Announcement: If you received an email to set up password recovery options for your AT&T Mail account, it is the real deal from AT&T. If you find out that you cannot remember your email or password, we have solutions for you below.

Top 3 Email Solutions

Using a client? Can't Sign In? Yahoo.com vs Currently.com
If you are having a hard time using your client, you may need to set up AT&T's New Security Feature to sign-in. You can also check your mail via a browser. Sometimes we forget our passwords and enter the wrong ones. Resetting your password is one of the fastest ways to get back into your account.  If you are routed to AT&T's Sign-in, this is normal. Just use your att.net, sbcglobal.net, or bellsouth.net as normal.
Learn about Oauth and Secure Mail Key and compatible clients Make sure you are using the right ID. Find it now. Still having trouble? Using a different browser or clear cache and cookies

If you are still having issues with loading the login page, go to currently.com and click on the mail icon at the top right. If you have not signed into your email for a period of time, it is suspended. You can recover it by signing into it but please note, your emails may be deleted and AT&T is unable to recover them in this instance.

WebMail and Features Troubleshooting

Heads Up: Using different emails on one browser may cause issues when attempting to sign in. You may need to clear cache and cookies each time you sign into a different email. A fix may be using different browsers for each email like Safari, IE, and Chrome.

Have the right browser

Internet Explorer and/ or a Microsoft Edge browser older than 15.x, you will need to upgrade your browser to a supported browser. If you’re using Firefox, Chrome, and/or a Mac-based browser, just sit back, and relax.

Can you keep your email?

In short, yes you can! Our Free Email FAQs page has more information and things you need to know. Please check out the terms and conditions page for more information.

Email Not Going Where It Is Supposed To?

  • Is Your Email Going Into Spam? Trash? Another Folder? - check the rules in webmail to make sure nothing is set up to forward

  • Hacked Email - If your email account was compromised, rules may have been set up without your knowledge.

  • 3rd Party Browsers - If you are using a 3rd party mailbox like Outlook, disable it to make sure that the mailbox is not causing the issues

  • Check spam. Sometimes email gets routed there in error.
  • Not getting an email from another web service? Sometimes issues on their end can prevent it from making it to us. In some instances, they will need to contact the email provider.
  • Sometimes non-AT&T emails are blocked for spam. If this is done in error, check out our AT&T Postmaster Support page.

Note: Some 3rd party mail apps have been known to cause issues and send mail into trash. We highly recommend discontinuing the use of the app and using the Yahoo Mail App.

3rd Party Mailbox - (Outlook, Apple Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird)

You may need to update your client to work with Oauth. You will find step-by-step solutions on our Client Setup Page. You'll find solutions below for generic client issues:

  • Test using webmail - If you are able to sign in to your email via the web, the issue points to the app or mailbox you are using.

  • Mailboxes - we recommend using the latest version. Updates and changes may prevent it from working properly.

  • Rebuild Mailbox profile - In some instances, rebuilding the profile fixes some issues. You may lose email doing this

  • Change your settings from POP to IMAP

  • Client issues - If you are using POP, you must now use IMAP. There was a recent change, this article will explain further

  • Multiple Email, One Client - Please note, each email requires either a secure key or OAuth to be set up.  Check out Microsoft's support page on how to set up multiple emails
  • Reset your secure key - this has helped resolve issues in the past, especially when signing into another client or troubleshooting your current one.
  • AT&T does not officially support or troubleshoot mailboxes/ clients like Outlook

Note: For those of you using Evolution and having issues sending email, go into setting and find Disable Settings For All POP3 Extensions and select it.

Having trouble with Outlook, check out this thread from one of our community members.

Spellcheck

The spellcheck feature is no longer supported via webmail and now defaults to the browser spell check option.

I am using Thunderbird Version 78.4.3.

I have two pacbell.net accounts.

One can send and receive, and the other cannot.

All settings are correct.

Here is the error that is returned when attempt is made to retrieve email:

"Sending of password for user ********@*******.net did not succeed. Mail server inbound.att.net responded: Server error- Please try again later.

This has been going on for three days.

How can I fix this issue?

Thanks, Robert

I have stopped receiving emails on my iphone 11 since Thursday.  I have now removed the account and added it back but it continues to say I must enter my password which has already been entered.  I can receive emails from my gmail account but not my sbcglobal account which is the main account i use.

Since November 10 thru 12 I have not been able to access bellsouth.net email via Outlook or native Windows mail client. This only affects Windows 10 computers. I verify password is correct via Yahoo webmail client, Mac email client and Outlook forAndroid.

Is the Open Authentication causing this problem or has my Bellsouth.net email account been hacked? I ask because I also received an email via the Bellsouth.net email on my Mac saying I requested to change the password my my AT&T Community Formums account. I did not submit the request but I did change the password just to be safe.

I can no longer receive or send email (bellsouth.net) on my iphone or IPAD. All email setting are correct. (I've checked.) I've also re-input my password several times to no avail.  The error message continues to say "invalid password".  I have used the same password for years with no issue.  If I need to change it, how do I do so? I see only instructions for changing my at&t password - which I have never used for my BellSouth email account. Please instruct me in detail on how to update my BellSouth email password, if this is required. Many thanks for your assistance

I just updated my bellsouth email (via yahoo) password on my desktop PC.  The updated password still does not allow my iphone to send or receive email.

BellSouth email address is [email scrubbed] - and is working fine on my desktop PC!

Beginning Nov,12 2020 I can no longer send or receive email using thunderbird-68.12 thru 78.4.0. At first I thought my password was bad so I reset it. I can still login and check email in a browser so I know my credentials are correct. The error I get is Sending of password for user <me> did not succeed. Mail server inbound.att.net responded: Server error - Please try again later. I have tried changing my authentication from "Normal password" to oauth2 but I get The server does not support the selected authentication method. Please change the 'Authentication method' in the 'Account Settings | Server settings'. Although there is no field in thunderbird to enter a secure mail key, I even tried using one as a password.
inbound is inbound.att.net on 995 and outbound is outbound.att.net on 465.Connections ecurity is SSL/TLS for both.

I really need some help to solve this problem.

Hello.  Hope all is well.

My sbcglobal.net email address (of at least 15 years) is no longer accessible.  I've been an ATT customer for about 20 years now and have just transitioned to UVERSE within the last year.

My login and password are not working via the website and not working via my email client.  I haven't been able to log in via the site for awhile and therefore have just retrieved mail via the email client.  However, now that is no longer working as of the last few days.

Based on my research, a lot of people are suggesting that this is because of the Yahoo/ATT merger and it's been an issue with many people for awhile now.

I've tried going to several of the ATT Homepages as has been suggested in forums such as the "Currently" page.  I'm still not getting access and it's even stating that I've tried too many attempts.  The only suggestions that I haven't tried is changing my Password or creating a Security Key simply because I'm not sure if I have a linked account for the email address and therefore not sure if that would make the situation worse.

I'd appreciate any help.

Thank you.

Just an update that I tried to create a Security Key in order to continue using my non OAuth compliant email client so that I could update the settings.  However it's required that you log into your email account (which I can't) to do so.

I also tried to open Windows Mail to start that up as it's apparently OAuth compliant but again it's required that you log into your email account (which I can't) to do so.
