Hi,

  • I have a AT&T Samsung Note5 that I purchased as unlocked and have been using it for several months (on EE in the UK) but after restarting it is now saying that the SIM card  is not valid and is asking for a network unlock code.  I put in a request for an unlock code (via a third party) and they have informed me that there have been too many unlock requests and to ‘try again in a month’.  Is this really the only option? What would the difference be in a months time?  Is there any other way to resolve this?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

First, don’t bother putting in your unlock request until after the 14 day return period. Also, have you activated the phone on ATT yet?

Hi @srini_ind_com,

I moved your post to our unlock thread. You will find information here on how to unlock your phone and the requirements.

If the phone was usable, but isn’t now, it’s not a sim lock problem.  I think it might have been blacklisted.  Run the IMEI on Swappa

I hadn’t thought of that.  I have now checked though and it says that it is not blacklisted and is activation ready.

@Mrb_36  The only thing left I can think of, is it was never properly unlocked, but was hacked.

ATT phones can’t become locked if they were legitimately unlocked.

By resetting it, you got rid of the hack, and it is properly locked again.    🤷🏼‍♀️

Thanks for the reply.

i guess that makes sense.  But what do I do know if AT&T are saying there are too many unlock requests.  Is the phone now useless?
