How to get a wearable plan with pre-paid?

So I'm an ATT pre-paid customer. I'm currently thinking about getting the Galaxy Watch 6 LTE, but I haven't figured out how to get the esim plan for wearables. Every time I have tried to add a line on website, it gives no option for a wearable plan. So is wearable plans only available to post-paid customers?

Is there a reason you can't or won't go with a post paid plan?

@skeeterintexas if I can get a cheaper monthly with all the same perks as a postpaid (except the companion device, which now I can see is possible with a different company unfortunately, been with AT&T for as long as I can remember, pre & post), then why would I offer to pay more? I never thought about a companion until last week, so this is all new to me. But I buy my phone outright, S21 Ultra currently so I don't have to be locked into a certain plan and can upgrade when I want.

I understand itz just something that AT&T doesn't offer, but to say that itz not possible for them to offer it isn't the truth. Which is their prerogative. Fine by me. But don't make it seem like you're not offering it becuz you can't do it, you just don't want to do it. And that's fine.

@skeeterintexas exactly, and that's exactly why I understand. But don't make it seem like you can't do it when u can, just come out and say "we don't offer that because it's not in our business model" not say "we're unable to do it becuz u can only have 1 line per account" when it blatantly says add a line and multi-line discount when adding a line to your account.

@formerlyknownas thanks for the added information. But even with the Samsung share, for the watch to be able to call and text it would need to be connected to Wi-Fi correct? Which doesn't solve the issue of wireless communication by itself. And yes, I have an unlocked S21 Ultra. I'm hardly ever without my phone, but still to be able to text or call without the need for Bluetooth or Wi-Fi is why I would be getting the watch and I don't believe that issue is solved with Samsung Share or whatever itz called, am I correct?

@formerlyknownas hopefully AT&T decides to either offer companion plans to pre-paid or updates their software so that itz allowed. At first I thought they were both using the same system to do the companion devices, but I see now number share and numbersync are different. From my experience, what 1 carrier does the others try to emulate or offer, if they can without taking too much of a hit. I think with Verizon offering companion on pre-paid, AT&T will be forced to offer it or i can see a bunch of people jumping ship becuz they can get it elsewhere. U kno what AT&T told me when I called and asked....they said I would have to get a completely different line and pay full price and it would still be a different number. That's crazy.

@kevink Good to kno, I didn't even kno that. So they offer "experimental" stuff on their little carriers prior to moving it to their big carrier? And ur saying that AT&T just started offering companion on their value plus unlimited for post-paid? That's crazy, so then by that info, it would prolly be over a year or so b4 AT&T even thinks about adding it to their pre-paid. Wow, I use to think AT&T was good about stuff. I notice they still don't let u partake in beta software like UI for Samsung, which bites.

@Coop91709 It is all decided internally by people that, knowing all the internal numbers, make what they think is the best decisions.

I didn't know until this weekend that Verizon Prepaid now offers international roaming.  In many more countries than ATT Prepaid.  But at a higher price point than ATT Prepaid.  ATT Prepaid was there first in this case.

@Coop91709

I think you misunderstood my post about Samsung call and text on other devices.

It doesn't matter whether your device is cellular or Bluetooth only, it's an option other than using the service providers software (number sync or number share)  which is not ideal.

You have to use the service provider software if you have a service provider branded phone. But if you've purchased an unlocked device direct from Samsung, like you and I have, we can use the superior program which is Samsung's call and text on other devices.

It works with cellular and Wi-Fi.

I'm just suggesting that no matter where you get cellular service for your watch, don't use the service providers program. Use Samsung's program because it works better and it's designed for your device
