AT&T ADDRESS BOOK

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,

After the current AT&T ADDRESS BOOK is retired will, or is there already, another ADDRESS BOOK APP be made and installed to our phones? If not, would you suggest an alternate ADDRESS BOOK APP? Just curious.

Hello @AtlantaCB,

I would be more than happy to help you with your contacts and pictures! Your contacts will remain on your device, and they can be saved to a cloud service. I definitely recommend backing up to one just in case, to keep any information you may need.

Depending on your device, there are different options to backup and review the data you have stored on the cloud service you use. Most Android devices have Google services available to store their information. Apple and Windows devices have their own respective ones with iCloud and OneDrive.

For your photos and contacts, you are able to view them online and from there you can download them to your computer or device.  Google Photos and Google Contacts are two of the links you can use to check your information if you're using an Android based phone.

Let me know if this information helps!

Hello @Elliemel,

I would be more than happy to help you with your iPhone!

Google is mainly used with Android phones. You can sync your contacts by adding your Gmail account to your phone, Apple has a post on this subject with instructions here, but for photos and other media types, I would highly suggest using Apple’s iCloud service. This is compatible with all Apple devices and can be used just about anywhere you have an internet connection.

I hope this helps!

Hello @Sandi1228,

The contacts on your phone are extremely important. I definitely wouldn’t want you to lose them. When AT&T Address Book retires, it will only remove the contacts saved within it. Any contacts saved on your phone, will not be deleted or moved.

There are a large number of options for backing up your contacts, and ensuring you always have them saved. One of the most popular options for Android phones is Google.

With your Gmail account logged in, it will sync the information. You can set this up for your specific phone by visiting our Device Support page. Select your make and model before heading to Tutorials > Backup and Reset. This will provide options to save the contacts. You can view the contacts and other saved information online through your computer, as well by logging into your Google account and selecting one of the options available.

Thank you for reaching out! I hope you have a great rest of your day!

Pretty sure it's a free service and you don't actually pay for the service. iCloud for Apple smartphones & google (I think) for androids has the same back up service, and does it better anyway. So they are getting rid of their address book because they can use the resources that were used to service address book, elsewhere. It's like a waste of what we pay them to do. I'd rather them use the money they collect from me when I pay my bill to pay for something better & more useful! Like better service to those of us who live in the country way up north in the Texas Panhandle where they don't provide very good service to.

It's not something you pay for, it's free. iCloud for Apple users and google (I think) for Android users provides this service better than
AT and T did, so they are getting rid of it & will utilize those resources somewhere else to better serve its customers. Do the research.
