Announcement: If you received an email to set up password recovery options for your AT&T Mail account, it is the real deal from AT&T. If you find out that you cannot remember your email or password, we have solutions for you below.

Top 3 Email Solutions

Using a client? Can't Sign In? Yahoo.com vs Currently.com
If you are having a hard time using your client, you may need to set up AT&T's New Security Feature to sign-in. You can also check your mail via a browser. Sometimes we forget our passwords and enter the wrong ones. Resetting your password is one of the fastest ways to get back into your account.  If you are routed to AT&T's Sign-in, this is normal. Just use your att.net, sbcglobal.net, or bellsouth.net as normal.
Learn about Oauth and Secure Mail Key and compatible clients Make sure you are using the right ID. Find it now. Still having trouble? Using a different browser or clear cache and cookies

If you are still having issues with loading the login page, go to currently.com and click on the mail icon at the top right. If you have not signed into your email for a period of time, it is suspended. You can recover it by signing into it but please note, your emails may be deleted and AT&T is unable to recover them in this instance.

WebMail and Features Troubleshooting

Heads Up: Using different emails on one browser may cause issues when attempting to sign in. You may need to clear cache and cookies each time you sign into a different email. A fix may be using different browsers for each email like Safari, IE, and Chrome.

Have the right browser

Internet Explorer and/ or a Microsoft Edge browser older than 15.x, you will need to upgrade your browser to a supported browser. If you’re using Firefox, Chrome, and/or a Mac-based browser, just sit back, and relax.

Can you keep your email?

In short, yes you can! Our Free Email FAQs page has more information and things you need to know. Please check out the terms and conditions page for more information.

Email Not Going Where It Is Supposed To?

  • Is Your Email Going Into Spam? Trash? Another Folder? - check the rules in webmail to make sure nothing is set up to forward

  • Hacked Email - If your email account was compromised, rules may have been set up without your knowledge.

  • 3rd Party Browsers - If you are using a 3rd party mailbox like Outlook, disable it to make sure that the mailbox is not causing the issues

  • Check spam. Sometimes email gets routed there in error.
  • Not getting an email from another web service? Sometimes issues on their end can prevent it from making it to us. In some instances, they will need to contact the email provider.
  • Sometimes non-AT&T emails are blocked for spam. If this is done in error, check out our AT&T Postmaster Support page.

Note: Some 3rd party mail apps have been known to cause issues and send mail into trash. We highly recommend discontinuing the use of the app and using the Yahoo Mail App.

3rd Party Mailbox - (Outlook, Apple Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird)

You may need to update your client to work with Oauth. You will find step-by-step solutions on our Client Setup Page. You'll find solutions below for generic client issues:

  • Test using webmail - If you are able to sign in to your email via the web, the issue points to the app or mailbox you are using.

  • Mailboxes - we recommend using the latest version. Updates and changes may prevent it from working properly.

  • Rebuild Mailbox profile - In some instances, rebuilding the profile fixes some issues. You may lose email doing this

  • Change your settings from POP to IMAP

  • Client issues - If you are using POP, you must now use IMAP. There was a recent change, this article will explain further

  • Multiple Email, One Client - Please note, each email requires either a secure key or OAuth to be set up.  Check out Microsoft's support page on how to set up multiple emails
  • Reset your secure key - this has helped resolve issues in the past, especially when signing into another client or troubleshooting your current one.
  • AT&T does not officially support or troubleshoot mailboxes/ clients like Outlook

Note: For those of you using Evolution and having issues sending email, go into setting and find Disable Settings For All POP3 Extensions and select it.

Having trouble with Outlook, check out this thread from one of our community members.

Spellcheck

The spellcheck feature is no longer supported via webmail and now defaults to the browser spell check option.

I have two email accounts with at&t that I access using windows live mail.

Yesterday, the att.net address started failing with "incorrect password",

but the sbcglobal.net address keeps working fine.

Both have all the same settings and same password.

Tried using on-line help to change to some new scheme,

but that fails to find the server (inbound.mail.att.net).

What changed?  How do I fix it?

I have the same problem using Thunderbird and the Ipad mail client. ATT was completely unhelpful and tried to charge me for debugging a problem that is clearly at their end.

5 or 6 days ago, one of my legacy email addresses stopped working on my iPhone with this error. I was still able to pull mail from a Windows desktop and access as webmail. I rebuilt the mail id and also added it to an iPad and still had the same error. Today another email id has the same problem. They are in the .snet domain.

My mother is no longer able to access her att.net email and in trying to help her I've discovered that this free email services was replaced with currently.com. I know something was sent to her to inform her but it is likely she thought it was advertising and ignored. My 78-yr old mother is resistant to change and I would like to avoid making her move to another email platform like Yahoo. Is there any options to keep her att.net email? even in a paid capacity? Also if she does have to move to the Yahoo/currently.com platform does her email address change? What happens with anyone who emails her using the att.net address - are the messages forwarded? thank you.

Outlook gives "reported error (0x800CCC92) : 'Your email server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings. The server responded: -ERR [SYS/TEMP] Server error - Please try again later.' "

Also the link [pasted below] for creating secure mail key does not give correct directions for performing this function. Please provide updated information that allows this to be performed.

Thank you.

update to previous message...

secure email link does not work for *.sbcglobal.net but if there is another login for this same email then the secure email link will work.

I'm going to give myself a star for fixing my own issue - only too 2 hours :-(

In May 2020, I was able to see my incoming emails on the https://mail.yahoo.com/d/folders/1  website but I was unable to download them into my resident e-mail program Eudora. The problem was solved with the help of Alexander G. Bell (a Tutor), by updating Eudora's (SSL) library from  v1.0 to v1.2.  Starting with the 16th of November, the problem is repeating itself, whereby I can see my incoming emails on the https://mail.yahoo.com/d/folders/1  website, but I am unable to download them into Eudora. I wonder if I need to replace  my PASSWORD (stored by Eudora) with a SECURE MAIL KEY that is compatible with the OAuth process.  I don't see the logic when the OLD password is still acceptable on the https://mail.yahoo.com/d/folders/  web interface to view my emails, yet it is not "secure enough" to be used by a resident e-mail client. Please offer a suggestion to resolve this.

Having the same problem today/tonight.  Clearly AT&T/Yahoo made a change today.  Call to AT&T tech support was not helpful.  As I read it, if you have an oauth compliant client, you don't need the secure e-mail key, but NOTHING works other than the web browser.  And, there is NO WHERE on the website to generate a secure mail key.

fszita:  There's hope but well hidden.  I had a reply set to post earlier, but this site entangled me vexatiously.  Now the post went poof--& redrafted.  But there's hope.  I was frustrated with two ATT-Y email accounts that our older email clients could no longer access.. (Im a devoted Eudora 7 user too!) I tried to make one acct connect as a method test last night.  I think i managed to find the :"secure key" generator in the site (don't know how) and tried adding a key on the website for the account --but no workee then.   I gave up and went to bed.  But today, surprise--that account was again connecting to Eudora!  Not sure why, but I think I first added the secure key (it then becomes invisible online); then later tried also updating the acct PW for the email client, too.  Anyway you'll need an invisible 'Key" entered for each ATT email acct in Eudora.  Good luck.  I just wasted another afternoon/eve trying to get the other email acct fixed with a key too , BUT got hopelessly tangled in the site, like a maze.  Lost in a dark cave.  Now to log out & get some sleep(???)

Using Microsoft Outlook for both of my AT&T (bellsouth.net) addresses.  One works the other doesn't.  Here's the message I get.
