Announcement: If you received an email to set up password recovery options for your AT&T Mail account, it is the real deal from AT&T. If you find out that you cannot remember your email or password, we have solutions for you below.

Top 3 Email Solutions

Using a client? Can't Sign In? Yahoo.com vs Currently.com
If you are having a hard time using your client, you may need to set up AT&T's New Security Feature to sign-in. You can also check your mail via a browser. Sometimes we forget our passwords and enter the wrong ones. Resetting your password is one of the fastest ways to get back into your account.  If you are routed to AT&T's Sign-in, this is normal. Just use your att.net, sbcglobal.net, or bellsouth.net as normal.
Learn about Oauth and Secure Mail Key and compatible clients Make sure you are using the right ID. Find it now. Still having trouble? Using a different browser or clear cache and cookies

If you are still having issues with loading the login page, go to currently.com and click on the mail icon at the top right. If you have not signed into your email for a period of time, it is suspended. You can recover it by signing into it but please note, your emails may be deleted and AT&T is unable to recover them in this instance.

WebMail and Features Troubleshooting

Heads Up: Using different emails on one browser may cause issues when attempting to sign in. You may need to clear cache and cookies each time you sign into a different email. A fix may be using different browsers for each email like Safari, IE, and Chrome.

Have the right browser

Internet Explorer and/ or a Microsoft Edge browser older than 15.x, you will need to upgrade your browser to a supported browser. If you’re using Firefox, Chrome, and/or a Mac-based browser, just sit back, and relax.

Can you keep your email?

In short, yes you can! Our Free Email FAQs page has more information and things you need to know. Please check out the terms and conditions page for more information.

Email Not Going Where It Is Supposed To?

  • Is Your Email Going Into Spam? Trash? Another Folder? - check the rules in webmail to make sure nothing is set up to forward

  • Hacked Email - If your email account was compromised, rules may have been set up without your knowledge.

  • 3rd Party Browsers - If you are using a 3rd party mailbox like Outlook, disable it to make sure that the mailbox is not causing the issues

  • Check spam. Sometimes email gets routed there in error.
  • Not getting an email from another web service? Sometimes issues on their end can prevent it from making it to us. In some instances, they will need to contact the email provider.
  • Sometimes non-AT&T emails are blocked for spam. If this is done in error, check out our AT&T Postmaster Support page.

Note: Some 3rd party mail apps have been known to cause issues and send mail into trash. We highly recommend discontinuing the use of the app and using the Yahoo Mail App.

3rd Party Mailbox - (Outlook, Apple Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird)

You may need to update your client to work with Oauth. You will find step-by-step solutions on our Client Setup Page. You'll find solutions below for generic client issues:

  • Test using webmail - If you are able to sign in to your email via the web, the issue points to the app or mailbox you are using.

  • Mailboxes - we recommend using the latest version. Updates and changes may prevent it from working properly.

  • Rebuild Mailbox profile - In some instances, rebuilding the profile fixes some issues. You may lose email doing this

  • Change your settings from POP to IMAP

  • Client issues - If you are using POP, you must now use IMAP. There was a recent change, this article will explain further

  • Multiple Email, One Client - Please note, each email requires either a secure key or OAuth to be set up.  Check out Microsoft's support page on how to set up multiple emails
  • Reset your secure key - this has helped resolve issues in the past, especially when signing into another client or troubleshooting your current one.
  • AT&T does not officially support or troubleshoot mailboxes/ clients like Outlook

Note: For those of you using Evolution and having issues sending email, go into setting and find Disable Settings For All POP3 Extensions and select it.

Having trouble with Outlook, check out this thread from one of our community members.

Spellcheck

The spellcheck feature is no longer supported via webmail and now defaults to the browser spell check option.

I canceled my AT&T account last month.  I have been using my email since then but today was asked for a password and it doesn't work.  I reset the password (using another email account) and that doesn't work either.  The security questions also are not working.  I know the answers to these very well.  What can I do?

Hello,

I am reaching out on behalf of my grandparents who have an @att.net account.

They created this email account with their Uverse service a while ago. They now no longer have AT&T as their service provider but the email is still active.

However, it seems that the "Secure Email Key" thing has gone into effect on their account. I am able to sign into their account with OAuth supported mail clients but not a non-supported one, in their case Outlook.

So I have been trying to get a secure mail key for them via the article but whenever we try to log in it says it cannot log in, and throws an error. Now it is asking to have the password reset but all of the password reset tools throw an error when I enter their information.

When I try to login through Yahoo site it redirects me to Att, and get the errors above.

So my first question is, who manages the emails for @att.net now? Should I be able to log in through yahoo? How do I log in to this account?

This is overall just really poor service and a poor and mismanaged email transition on ATT/Yahoo's part.

I could not sign into my att.net account on my Amazon fire tablet.  After speaking with tech support I deleted the account from the tablet.  Now I cannot add it back.  I keep getting the error message:Connection Security Warning - There is a problem with the server's security certificate ( it is self-signed, expired or has a host name mismatch).  I verified the imap, Del in/out going info was correct.  My tablet is Fire HD 10 7th generation.  How can I add my Att.net email back to my tablet.

About a week ago I tried to open my Bellsouth email and got an error message saying my settings were out of date and I might need to update my password or give permission for the device to sync.  The same message appeared on my iphone email and my Kindle.  I reset my password and clicked on the sync button in Settings on my PC but the problem still exists.  My AT&T  email works but I'm not getting those emails on the devices synced to AT&T.  I spoke to three different tech agents at AT&T and spent over an hour on the phone.  They weren't helpful and the problem wasn't resolved.  I'm using Windows 10.  Any suggestions?

I am having a close to the same issue.  My Windows Live Mail stopped working 4 days ago.  I just spent 1 hr and 22 minutes on the phone with an agent i could barely understand  ( with dogs barking and horns honking in the background)  and still not resolved.    She had me delete my bellsouth.net account in my Windows live mail and added it back with an imap setup.  Error msg states "Oauthbearer" failed but shows folders downloading.  She ended the call with a promise to call me back in 20-25 minutes while the folders downloading but im wondering if the actually are downloading?   Sending and receiving emails fine on my phone,  just not Windows Live Mail on my desktop.  I am so frustrated at this point I may not even answer if she does call back.

I have been unable to download emails in the Prodigy email account that I've had for nearly 20 years. This issue has been going on the last two days. I tried changing the password, but that didn't work.  I don't understand why this is happening. Can you help?

I have 4 att.net subaccounts and 4 sbcglobal subaccounts. I want to collect my email on any one of several tablets. I receive an error message saying that I have to re-enter the password. This get treated as a password reset, which it isn't, forcing me to re-enter the password twice more as a "personal password." This then throws the same error on the other tablets, forcing the same password re-entry THERE 12 more times (and shooting dozens of password reset emails at me). Then this repeats on the first tablet. How can I stop this? This happens only for the att.net subaccounts, not the sbcglobal ones. I just want the flexibility to collect my email where I choose to.

Thank you Bruce Cain

I can receive e-mails on my sbcglobal account, but cannot send them.   I cannot reply to any e-mails that are sent to me.  I do not know how to fix this. Can you please help.  My e-mail is [email scrubbed]
