I was given promotions that are being taken.

I have been a Uverse subscriber since December 2007 at the same address. I have some promotions that were given to me earlier this year, and today I got the following email message.

ACTION REQUIRED: Your AT&T U-verse DISCOUNT is being discontinued.
Dear Valued U-verse® Member,
The Courtesy U-verse Service discount for your HD, Set Top Box or HBO/Cinemax will no longer be applied to your account because you don't meet the required criteria:
• The Courtesy Customer must occupy an apartment on the AT&T Connected Communities (ACC) property; and
• Be employed by Owner or Owner's agent in a customer-facing position on the property; or
• Be responsible for managing or leasing the property.
Although the discount will cease, you will continue receiving the U-verse services that you currently enjoy. The standard rate will appear on your bill within the next one to two bill cycles.
We value you as a customer. If you'd like more information or to discuss a number of package and service options available, please call us at 800.288.2020 and say, “Billing.”
Sincerely,
Your U-verse Team

Why is is this happening? I would appreciate if someone could let me know what is going on. This is not making any since to me. I called CS and I was told that HBO and the HD promotions are being removed from my account because of where I live.  How do you lose promotions that you have qualified for?   Hopefully I will hear from someone in Community Support.

@RCSMG Hey Reggie.... Do you live in an apartment on the property, do you also work for the leasing office, and finally do you actually lease apartments?  If no to any of those than that's why your losing the discounts?

That's the way I read it anyway.

I get that.  But I was told by a CSR that the promotion was lifetime, and that wasn't the case.  I was told by a Social Community Team member that it was a limited promotion.  Now, suddenly I am losing them.

I don't and never have expected a lifetime promotion, I don't know where that came from.  Anyway the CSR was only able to read what was on the screen, so I didn't ask her how I got a lifetime promotion in the first place.  It would be nice to find out how this all came about though.

Do you still meet the criteria as stated in the original post?

I can see that it would be "lifetime" as long as you still meet this requirements but of course it will go away if you no longer qualify as per the stated criteria.

It's like the FAN discount we get for our wireless account because of DHs employment.  It is "lifetime" meaning it doesn't have to be renewed or renegotiated but if DH no longer works there then the discount goes away.

That's my 2 cents. Spend it wisely.

@RCSMG - I think BeeBee & skeeter stated the situation concisely -

I can see that it would be "lifetime" as long as you still meet this requirements but of course it will go away if you no longer qualify as per the stated criteria.

And, at&t audits from time to time to verify that you meet the criteria. Kind of like validating your dependents for medical coverage.

If you still do meet the criteria, you need to let them know. Where they fell down is giving you the general contact info. There should be a specialist assigned to following up on such an out of the mainstream situation.

I agree with you all about the lifetime promotions.  I was never told I had ANY lifetime promotions for any of my services until today.  My question to ATT is when was it given to me, and by who?  All of the promotions I received were temporary.

Here is an update to my original post.  I talked to a CM and they got me on a promotion for one year of HD service.  They also explained that I wouldn't be losing both promotions, it would have been one or the other.  So at this time I am good to.  Thank you all for your suggestions and support. N
