Can I transfer my number from an old go phone to new go phone?
My go phone account is still active. I currently have an old flip phone that I've been using for years, and I'm considering getting a newer model go phone. It's such a hassel to change phone numbers though, so I want to make sure I can keep my number before I buy a new one. Can you transfer your number from one go phone to another? If so, what do I need to do to keep my number?

Hi ashrcurr,
All you have to do is switch the SIM card from your old phone to the new phone.
If the old SIM card is no longer available (due to device loss) your new phone will likely include a SIM card, or you can purchase one from an AT&T. Then all you have to do is go to www.wireless.att.com/activations , select GoPhone Activation, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Hello Community!
After looking at all of your feedback in the thread, we noticed that the link @julywashere helpfully provided (huge thank you to them for their solution) was directing our customers to our general activation page. We’ve updated the link to go directly to our GoPhone Activation page to avoid any confusion.
If after trying this link you’re still needing assistance, please feel free to contact us or ask our community for additional guidance.
Thank you,

Thank you! That's what I needed to know. I wasn't sure if your phone number was tied to the sim card or not.

Well, I followed the instructions on the activation page and now I have a new phone number when all I wanted to do is to transfer the number on the go phone that I lost to this new go phone. How do I fix this?

I just went through this same thing myself and what you don't want to do is click on the link referred to above (http://www.wireless.att.com/activations) for trying to activate a new go phone SIM card with your current number. If you follow the link above it will activate your new SIM card, but it will be with a new number because it's opening a new account for you. If your activating a new SIM card and wanting to keep it the same telephone number like myself, then you will want to call 1-800-331-0500 (To have your new sim updated to your account). This process can not be done on line and only through speaking with a customer service rep on the phone. I repeat you can not do this online!! I hope this helps 🙂

You may not be able to transfer the contacts on your old phone to your new phone. AT&T used to be able to do it but I don't know if they still have the capabilities of copying the contact list from old flip phones. With the newer smartphones, the contact list can be saved to the cloud or backed up on your computer and then restored to your new phone.
