How do I unmerge AT&T and Yahoo email accounts?

Split.png

You may have been notified that your E-mail account is about to get unmerged. You may have had a merged account where your AT&T E-mail and Yahoo E-mail were merged into a single account, which allowed the password and inboxes to be shared.

If you are not sure if you have a merged account, it is likely you have one if:

  • You can sign in to your merged E-mail account using either you AT&T or your Yahoo E-mail address.
  • You can sign in to myA&T with either your AT&T or Yahoo E-mail addresses.
  • You use the same password for both AT&T and Yahoo E-mail accounts.
  • Your mailbox receives messages from both your AT&T and Yahoo E-mail address.
  • When you reset the password, it changes the password on both Yahoo and AT&T accounts.
  • When trying to reset your Yahoo password, it redirects you to myAT&T.

What is Happening?
Beginning mid-November 2017, you will no longer be able to sign in to myAT&T or att.net with your Yahoo ID.
Beginning early December 2017, all merged email accounts will be separated into two separate email accounts.

What does this mean to you?

Beginning in mid-November 2017, you will need to start using your AT&T email address to sign in to myAT&T instead of your Yahoo email address.

  • To access your AT&T account in myAT&T, you’ll need to sign in using your AT&T email address. (Don’t worry, we’ll tell you what it is if you try to sign in with your Yahoo email address.)
  • To access your AT&T email account through att.net, you’ll need to use your AT&T email address through currently.att.yahoo.com and clicking on the mail icon at the top. (Again, we’ll tell you what it is if you try to sign in with your Yahoo email address.)

You’ll need to start signing in to your AT&T and Yahoo email accounts separately since you will now have two unique accounts.

  • The passwords will not change until you decide to change them.
  • Your AT&T E-mail account will be empty. This includes E-mails, contacts, calendar, information associated with Yahoo sites (Yahoo Sports, Yahoo Groups, Tumblr, finance portfolios). All of this information will be on your Yahoo E-mail account.
  • Your Yahoo E-mail password can be managed through the Yahoo Member Center.

What about my Sub-accounts?

  • All Yahoo accounts will become stand alone accounts.
  • Just like the parent accounts, any subaccounts that were linked to a yahoo account, the AT&T E-mail account will be empty and all the E-mails, contacts, and other things will be stay with the Yahoo account.
  • The AT&T subaccounts will still be subaccounts under the primary AT&T E-mail account.

What about my E-mails, Contacts, and Folders

  • Your E-mails, Contacts, and Folders for your merged accounts will be available when you login with your YahooID.
  • For your Yahoo E-mail, Contacts, and Folder issues, please reach out to Yahoo.
    • If you are getting an AT&T error message or not seeing your E-mails, Contacts, or Folders, such as a terminated account, try clearing your cache and cookies or using a different browser. Make sure you are logging in with your @yahoo.com account at mail.yahoo.com.
    • You can reset your password by selecting forgot password.
    • If you are missing E-mails, you can recover your E-mail at this site.

Not able to Sign In

  • Yahoo E-mail - Please contact Yahoo, as we no longer have access to Yahoo accounts.
  • AT&T - Getting incorrect password? Go to our help article to get back into your account.
    • Suspended / Inactive / Error 550.5.2.1 - Accounts were disabled from inactivity during the unmerge. To fix this, try to sign in and after 48 hours, your E-mail account will become active again.
    • Getting redirected to Yahoo site - Clear your cache and cookies or try using a different browser. Make sure you are logging into the right site. Go to currently.com and click on the mail icon at the top-right.

You are probably affected by the un-merging of AT&T (SBCglobal.net) and Yahoo.com email accounts.

All your old emails, folders, contacts, and calendars should be stored and still accessible in your primary Yahoo.com account.

My email(s) end in att.net. I was recently( 2/5/18) made aware of this split.  I go to att. Net and sign in only to be told my password doesn’t work or that My att. Net email ( had for 5+yrs) is not recognized by att.net.

Even ATT IT couldn’t get it worked out for nearly 2 hours.

Finally got acess to 1 of them, but other att.net email is still not recognized, won’t let me reset a password.

what was the point of this other than to make your customers crazy and have them contemplate other providers?

I feel your pain. Spent 2 hours on phone w ATT IT trying to figure this out. My email address ends in att.net but had been logging in on yahoo using att.net. Can’t do it now.

Eventually was told to use att.net to logg in for email. Still had to go to att.com ( yep not at all confusing ATT🙄) had to add me email to the person whose name is on the accounts page.

Yada yada yada. Still can’t get into my 2nd att.net email even though it’s listed.

I’m switching my email to g.mail. Pain in the butt but at least I can get to it.

Not sure this helps- but wanted you to know you’re not alone. NOT IMPRESSED ATT, not impressed.

I recently had several issues using att.net but nothing was lost except my drafts.  The folder is empty but if I go to webmail, they are still there. Do drafts get archived?

We had at&t a long time ago, think 1999. We left around 5 years ago. Just recently, our email address became difficult to sign into. It was only accessible on an iPad. Now, even though it was in consistent use, no new messages will come in or go out. We can still access our old messages, but that's it. The address still comes up as existing and doesn't return error emails for the account being inaccessible. Is there any way to recover the account or at least forward future emails until we can get the accounts switched over?

Problem of lost/missing at&t/yahoo e-mails after account merge Dec 2017/2018 time frame.

To locate e-mails/folders etc, and restore them, please try the following.

1. Go to yahoo.com and log in using your original yahoo " id " established by you

with yahoo not the "Id"  you have been using with your current  at&t account.

If you do not remember, yahoo may allow you to retrieve it using their  site.

2. This should let you re-establish your yahoo account that has been separated from your

at&t service and it will request that you to establish a new password with Yahoo for their account.Somewhat convoluted.

3. The net result is that you will now an At&t account and a Yahoo account.

4. Going forward you will now have 2 e-mail accounts.

5. Once again "Somewhat convoluted" but prior to the merge you will be able to see all of your e-mails,folders etc.

in the yahoo account and also use it as another e-mail account.

I have this same issue but worse. I had created about 25 filters to automatically sort my incoming sbcglobal.net email into designated folders. Now the folders are gone and expected emails seem to be disappearing upon arrival. I am using the Yahoo app for Android and will receive notification that a newsletter or whatever that I've subscribed to using my sbcglobal email and filtered to go to its own folder has arrived. But when I go to that inbox the email is not there. And of course, the folder doesn't exist so if the filter still exists it can't be sorted. Creating the folder hasn't solved my problem. I am simply not receiving about 25 subscribed emails daily. Two of them are paid subscriptions.

Any help?

I have logged into att.net and starting yesterday, It has been redirecting me to a yahoo login for me to login a second time. I have cleared my cookies and cach. Prior to this the email had a popup for yahoo asking me to agree to terms for a third party. I did not click on this I just bypassed it.
