@ATTHelp don't you think we’ve all tried that already?! I get there are people who still may not know how to filter unwanted calls or texts from unknown numbers but for those of us who are tech savvy, the solutions offered by AT&T support come across a little condescending.

Phone received message from 1-909-737-9886 saying we will lock your device -please clear spam messages -scan now then wants me to order a monthly payment for virus scans. Why would someone lock my phone if I don’t order their product which I can’t afford.

Text message or voice mail message?

Doesn't really matter.....spam text messages and spam voice mail messages are running rampant.

Don't try to make sense out of nonsense.  Ignore and delete.

Shoutout to everyone who can remember their childhood phone number but can't remember the password they created yesterday.  You are my people.  😊

The call was not from ATT. It was a scam call. No one is going to lock your phone.

That sounds like a classic Text message scam that's been reported before.

@ATTHelp you aren’t offering any solutions that haven’t already been tried and honestly AT&T should offer a more robust spam blocker for free to all customers that does more than silence calls or rely on built in device settings. Reporting the text messages is time consuming and ineffective if we are receiving multiple texts a day (even if we are filtering them because honestly, we shouldn’t have to do all the work from our end)

It’s a phishing scam, not from ATT. Don’t click any links.

Hello. First time here on a forum. I’ve been getting repeated text messages warning me that my “account will be locked” if I don’t clear my SPAM folder by going to a provided link immediately. I have reported the texts to the company, and HAVE NOT clicked the link, but am wondering if anyone else is getting these?? I’ve also been getting messages appearing to be from the company that I am over my limit and showing what I will be over-charged (although I am on an Unlimited plan), and when I followed up on that, the company acknowledged those were sent, but in error. Anyone else experienced any of this?

Those “account will be locked” texts are scam texts and not from ATT. Yes, others have been getting them and many others. Ignore and delete. I can’t explain the overage texts, especially if ATT acknowledges they are from ATT. I’d say ignore them too and don’t worry unless you do get charged.

It’s spam.  You can report it, or just ignore it.  Whichever you choose, don’t click on any links and delete it.

If the message itself says delete spam or your phone is locked, then that is SPAM.

However if when a message comes in and your phone itself gives you a popup giving you the option to delete/report as spam and block the number, that would be fine.

What phone or app does that? I’ve never heard of such a thing.

@sandblaster

My DuraForce Pro gives me the option. I can mark as SPAM and report, and have a checkbox if I want to block the sender as well. Been seeing it a lot more these days.
