messages arriving on Chinese characters
Long messages from friends and family are arriving at my phone in Chinese characters. Short msgs from the same people are ok. All phone settings are in English. Any ideas?

So what is the fix. What does the user have to do?

bump. i've been researching for days on this issues. my wife and i both have new galaxy phones. i talked to support and they had me try everything all the way down to factory reset. and now i find this post...so its a known issue, yet i wasted hours of troubleshooting. has there been a resolve to this?

fixed the problem on their end and it cleared up on our end. If you are
still receiving messages in Chinese, you might have another problem. After
the problem had been reported fixed, I had family resend messages that had
initially arrived in Chinese and the messages did show up in English.

We just updated to Windows 10.
The ATT phone is now receiving Chinese characters when receing group messages.
Also, the same ATT phone cannot send group messages.

This problem continues. It's not a device problem, it's an AT&T "character encoding problem." You can take it into the store, but good luck getting someone who knows what to do.
