5G Speeds

The 5G speeds that I have experienced in my city, Morgan Hill, CA, are worse than 4G LTE, and frankly, very frequently the signal does not even work; it's like having no signal at all. I have an iPhone 12 Pro.

We are here to help with your signal in the Morgan Hill, CA area @eyab2022.

There are many things that could be causing low signal on your iPhone 12 Pro.

  • Environment factors such as trees, mountains, large bodies of water, and even concrete buildings.
  • Sometimes, during peak times, AT&T may slow down speed to keep everyone connected. Also, if you see a drop in service, or slow speeds, at a specific time, this could indicate another issue, like equipment around you emitting interference. It could also mean something on your device is causing issues.

  • Dropping your phone can damage the components inside. This can affect your calls, texts, and internet experience.

Upon investigation into the Morgan Hill, CA area, there is medium to low coverage. This seems to be due to the terrain in that area.

We suggest that you connect to Wi-Fi and use Wi-Fi Calling whenever possible when you are in this area.

Let us know if this helps. If not, we can take a further looking into your device itself.

Thank you for the response! Let us provide you with the information about the Bands we currently use @eyab2022.

We will have the C-band up and running by the end of 2022. You can learn about this and our 5G+ online.

Currently our network is composed of the following bands:

  • 700 MHz: Bands 12/17/29
  • 850 MHz: Band 5
  • 1900 MHz: Band 2
  • 1700 MHz /2100 MHz: Bands 4/66
  • 2300 MHz: Band 30

We hope this helps! Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.

AT&T currently only uses c-band in some very few selected locations.  As for your speed problems, given that 99.9% of AT&T 5G is only slightly faster than 4G LTE (In ideal conditions) it's not surprising that you're seeing slower speeds.  Nothing will change until they roll out c-band to more areas.  I would not hold your breath though.  I live in the Detroit metro area (one of the locations selected for c-band rollout) and I've not seen 5G c-band yet.
