Connecting Mercury smart Wi- Fi plugs with Echo Dot

Hi there,

I'm trying to connect Merkury smart wi- fi plugs with my Alexa dot.

I follow instructions and have tried to connect regular mode and ap. It keeps telling me no devices found. It says I need at least 2.4 to connect. I have a bgw210 modem. Is my service going to support these plugs?

Hi @Marybrouillard,

We're here to help! You will need to disable your dual band-steering in order to specifically connect to the 2.4 frequency.

  1. To disable, access the gateway settings using https://soc.att.com/2TfEQPk4 from a connected device.
  2. Find the wifi settings page, change the SSID of either network and save.... No more band steering. Can now access either network manually from device wifi setting.

Let us know how well this works for you!

It works with band steering. I know because I have Merkury devices in my house and I also have the BGW210.  Before you set it up with Alexa, you first need to set it up in the Geeni app to get it connected to your wifi network.  Once that is done, just follow the instructions in the box to add the skill and set it up with Alexa.
