remote access to router
Hello - I am a network guy. I can't imagine that I cannot open up the router for remote access / management... why? please don't say security.... there are too many ways, that if this was the concern, you could use double authentication, etc., etc.... please advise - i mean really, your ATT, you can figure out how to provide this & provide security.
Perhaps I just missed it in the interface?

I understand this thread is more than two years old, but I was wondering if this still applied to the newer version, as I have to remote access my router for an assignment for a course I'm taking.

@julerobb1 , if you need to remote access to a router for a course, I would suggest that you install a router inside your network and use IP Passthrough in the Gateway to make it accessible to the Internet. Then you could have whatever remote access facilities that router provides.

@JefferMC, Sadly I have tried that, and failed, The gateway will think im trying to access its WAN mgmt (which i dont see why they cant just let us modify these units, they have warehouses full of them, and ones are constantly being refurbed and sold online, T has plenty of money as it is) Really, we should be able to things like manage WAN, DNS, features, put whatever we want on the unit, and when we terminate service, t just put their stuff back anyways. Not like these are worth trillions of dollars, at most they have 512MB of storage with one gig ram. Which, for an ISP router is alot. :) I have managed to successfully enable remote Access, but noted that we customers dont have access to it's SSH/Telnet interface.

You just need to switch to a cable ISP. Or accept that att won’t let you access all the info about the gateway. And live with it.
Most router apps will let you access the router remotely.
