NVG589 Default Access Code not working

Hello, I am trying to Port Forward. My router is a Motorola NVG 589. I'm trying to use the Device Access Code located on the left wall of my router (which is clearly labeled "Device Access Code"), however it keeps saying my access code is not correct. I tried to enter in the Device Access Code to the Default Access Code option as well, however it still is not correct.

 

Can someone help me? I am willing to PM AT&T workers pictures of my router, device access code, etc.

I am having the same issue. I've reset it as well and still tells me the access code is incorrect...AT&T can't help me other than have someone come out but they will charge me!  Can anyone help me with this.  I'd like to set up my SCOUT66 but can't till this is fixed I'm told.  Thanks so much anyone!!!

Send them a Private Message, on this link, and they should be able to give the help needed to solve your Uverse RG incorrect access code service problems. They are available M-F 8am-11pm Eastern time (also around on weekends), response may take up to 2 business days.

This is not the regular CS/TS phone people, but the social media Community Specialists that know the people to contact to get things done. I personally know as they've helped me on a DVR swap and gone above and beyond.

Include your name, account #, email address and a good phone # (land or cell) and time to contact you on.

I have been having the same problems. I have had numerous techs come out replaced the modem several times to no avail. I even had rude technicians who said there was no problem. err For anyone reading this here is some of what I did discover thanks to an advanced very smart technician who actually climbed poles and went looking. ATT has ports then there are switch boxes which could be far away like 30 miles away even. This past year several ports went down and a switch box 30 miles away had to be replaced. In december another port went down and I learned U Verse works better with a fiber optic line which I do not have I rent an apt landlord will not allow them to replace the line with fiber optic said it is a fire hazard they don't want to be responsible should anything go wrong. It is a no win situation for me. I just have to deal with it up down slow broken whatever.. So just calling and having a technician come out does not always resolve you need a specialist who is willing to actually climb something. Mine is acting up yet again this time commercials are blasting through while the program I am watching on my laptop on You tube U verse or NBC etc is still playing. Only the sound comes through LOUD overlapping the program not the commercial. Troubleshooter recommends trying to switch channels it is saying my network password key is invalid.This modem is fairly new again and registered password before with no problem. I always seem to have major problems when Microsoft rolls out new updates. Wondering if part of the problem is Microsoft not U verse. I only have U verse internet and regular land line phone as I have MS Hashimoto's and Cancer I am sick from chemotherapy. Please Uverse can you look into this situation obviously it is not affecting just me.

@Marerob What you are describing has nothing to do w/Uverse, has to do w/something on the internet or Youtube.  That's why all the modem changes haven't made a difference.

 

Nothing Microsoft has done is causing this, otherwise every PC owner would be having the same problems.

 

Sounds like something popped up another browser window and is playing the commercial.  That's why I use an MVPS.org Hosts file to stop all ads, banners, 3rd party cookies and page counters, web bugs and most hijackers.   Then use Disconnect Me on FF 37.02. 😉

I have tried it all sweety. I even uninstalled reinstalled took things back to default got rid of extensions tried developer mode to rule out extensions etc. I am not the only one having this problem. It all started when microsoft rolled out its newest updates. In addition the network key now says it is no longer valid and others are having the same problem too expand the mind means not everything is black and white but black white and shades of gray my neighbors are complaining too

Hi Chris so how does one use MVPS.org and the other one where you wrote numbers. I am willing to learn. I do know no extra windows popped up etc but this is driving me crazy just had chemo 4 days ago only want to watch an occasional program on my laptop in peace thank you for responding back to me

I am having the same problem and no one at uverse would help me. I want to put in my own codes since this is something many people have access to since I was hacked once but it took them from 2013 to 2015 to get me a  new router! I had my original router from 2009 to 2015. You have to make so much noise it hurts. I want Verizon out here in California. We have it on the east coast and it has the best connectivity but we are stuck with only horrible services that patch fix everything and listens to the one that screams the loudest. they are getting better employees though, I mean better technically anyway that visit. The phone people are stil outsourced and get annoyed when you ask them to do something but are really polite about it.  who cares about polite, I want someone who is wiling to help and not say yes ma'am no sir

So it has to do with the microsoft updates? Some say that they don't want our routers to be secure and updated due to NSA requirements to snoop on us. Why would microsoft security update freeze our access code?  Could that be the reason so it cannot be changed  by anyone so they can track us?

Did anyone get this resolved? I'm having same problem, though don't have any Windows products, so that's not the problem.  I'm trying to do port forward, but can't get past the device access code screen.

You have to download a hosts file and replace the entire hosts file manually or or you can copy and paste single or multiple entries into the hosts file manually. Alternatively, you can use an application like spybot search and destroy which will do it for you ( you can also add entries manually to the hosts file without actually touching any of the directories from within which it lies using that application). I'm sure there are other applications which will do what Spybot Search & Destroy can do. I only mentioned this particular software because I've been us in TN it for over ten years now, it's always been highly effective (more so even than most of the premium software which offer this functionality), and I know it to be a good dependable and well maintained Freeware.
