Late Fee

Hello, this month I was charged a $5 late fee. No notice for payment due, never happened before. Customer over 10 years with same number. This is not the way to keep my business.

10 years with the same number and you dont know when your bill is late?

You are posting on a forum that is comprised of regular customers to communicate with other  customers to offer advice and share experiences same as any other user. This is a public forum and personal information should never be included in any post. Although there is a small team of customer care specialists that monitor the forums the sheer volume of posts are simply too many posts for these agents to respond to each one of them. The most effective way to get any issues resolved in the forums is to send them a private message directly with all pertinent information and wait for a response, Some of us are employees but we are here to represent the forum with our knowledge and do not represent AT&T with our responses.

Are you saying you didn't receive a bill at all? Because if you did, you also received a notice of when it was due. The due date is clearly stated on the bill. Besides that, your due date should be the same every month.

You left out the must important part of your complaint: Was the payment made on time? If not, the late fee should come as no surprise. With the multiple ways AT&T has for you to view your account, claiming there was "no notice for payment due" is just silly.

Are you saying you paid the bill and it was marked late and assessed a $5 fee???

Or you never saw a bill? (a bill that is pretty much due the same time every month)

Yes, I received a bill. But because, I travel a lot, sometimes I'll wait for the reminder email to make a payment. I did not receive a late payment or late fee email notice and had no idea they charged a fee. But, now that I know I'll be sure to just pay it when I receive the initial invoice email. Basically I just wanted to voice my complaint.

@levanoff   My sister and mom travel and I just like the convenience of auto payment.  Mine is set up to pay from my credit card 2 days before the due date.   I received notice once when my card was out of data the payment would not go through.  I'm all for making it easy on myself.

*** I do review all payments to make sure they were correct.****

Thanks. As a rule I don't trust auto payment but I might have to do that:)

@levanoff  Before I went to autopay I would used my bank's bill pay feature with their app to pay my AT&T bill. This saved a stamp and a trip to the post office. It was electronic and paid the next day the same as autopay. I could also setup a date to pay the bill prior to due date.
