Free Tablets

Can anyone explain to me the meaning of free tablets from AT&T? I was offered two free tablets from an AT&T store in Lindenhurst NY on Wellwood Ave that cost me over $100 per month. If you want one of those free tablets just go there and ask for Happy! I just had a supervisor on the phone that felt it was okay for the owner of the store to lie to the customers.

The tablet itself may be free but the required 2 year data service is not. To get the "free" tablet, you had to agree to a 2 year contract for data service. Didn't they mention that? There is also a one time activation fee on each tablet so your first month could easily be over $100 for 2 tablets. Going forward it should only be $10/month per tablet.

The only thing they mentioned was the $10 charge per month per tablet, but
they gave me a discount of $10. My normal bill before the free tablets, was
$149, my first bill with the tablets was $279.

Pretty sure $90 of that are the one time activation fees plus if you activated during a bill cycle, you are paying for more than a month of data service. Your next bill should be significantly lower.
