Did anyone else ever notice that AT&T's plan price estimates are $100 (or more) cheaper when they're advertising them (this includes deals, such as free tablets), but after you've purchased a plan and a device they're a $100 more than the advertised estimate... I've been noticing this, for quite a few years actually.

Nope. My price is exactly what ATT advertised. I switched 3 years ago and ball parked My cost, including taxes, based on my previous carrier. My first bill is a partial and full bill combined and covered 7 weeks of service, so didn't count. Every bill since is spot on.
Advertised prices for service, phones and insurance is all published. The only thing not published is tax and fees because they change often.
Did you do the math?
1. Data plan cost
2. Line fees
3. Phone installments
Tax and fees between $4 and $8 per phone line.
Are you on an old plan? Old plans are not advertised and you may be paying more.
