The customer you are trying to reach isn't accepting calls at this time

Yesterday I was trying to call someone and kept getting a recording of the customer you are trying to reach is not accepting calls at this time. I see in the forum that this means blocked or non payment. Well I know its not for non-payment because I am on the account as well. So my question is...if my number was blocked would the person I was trying to call see the missed calls from me? Also if I was blocked would my texts go through? This has happened before and the person says its the phone that's acting funny. But then I was told by the person that they could see the missed calls and I never received a blocked message when my texts were sent.

I tried to respond to the above by clicking on the link.... It sent me to a private message page that required a contact name... I copied and pasted the JP etc, and "no matches" were found no matter how I configured the name.

@artymiss42  When I click the link it sent me to a pre-addressed page. Try using a different browser or computer.

To be clear: there is a line to add a username (additional) but above the line I can see it's already adressed to AT&T. I'll say the blank spot does visually overwhelm the prefilled name.

Yes, you can get a replacement SIM card on an ATT corporate store.

Assuming this message is being received because the customer has not paid the bill or the account is empty, is there any way to determine how much longer it will be before the number is revoked?

I moved back into an area where I used to live and was interested in getting my old number back. I have been calling my old number and getting this message for about 4 months now. I check every couple of days waiting for a disconnection message of some sort, but would like to have an idea as to when the number might become available and/or if perhaps it has reached the time when AT&T can pull the number and perhaps they will pull it so I can have it.

Even if the number is available, doesn't mean you will be offered that number if you get service again.  You can try, but only business accounts can request numbers.

Well I'm an existing customer, and I was there customer when I changed the number so I am hoping they will accomodate me.

Still wondering if there is any way to determine if/when the number is set to be disconnected.

Hi,

I have been trying to reach my friend since one month and I get the message.

Is there any possibility that if the person has changed his mobile number, we get the same message? Or in such a case do we get a message something like  "This number does not exist."

My husband and I currently dont live together due to jobs and his phone didn't get service where he is so he is now on his parents plan with AT&T and I know they pay their bill but when I have been trying to call him it never rings and then immediately says "the wireless customer you are calling is not available, please try your call again later." So that just means it's off and no voicemail is set up right
Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation originally titled Wireless customer you are calling is not available. please try your call again later.

Hi @JnJScott!

Staying connected is definitely important and I’m sorry you’re getting that error message when calling your husband! Let’s take a look into some troubleshooting and see what can be causing this!

Are you having any issue with text messaging each other? Were there any recent changes to the account or the phone before this started happening? When you place the call to your husband, are you getting forwarded to the voicemail account or do you just hear the recording each time?

I know I blocked someone by accident once, so it’s not unusual. Have your husband make sure you didn’t fall into the blocked list on his phone. To check this, he can visit the AT&T Device Support website since the steps can vary depending on the type of phone. Once on the page, change the make and model of the phone in the upper left before getting started. He can then tap on the Tutorials tab > Calling > Block or unblock calls

There can also be a wide range of reasons, for instance:

  • Person not available
  • Does not answer
  • No secondary call treatment (i.e. voicemail)
  • Person traveling outside the calling area

For additional troubleshooting tips and tricks, visit the AT&T Troubleshoot & Resolve tool. From here, you can select the exact issue your husband is having. He’ll start with the same process of making sure the correct device appears to get the best results. You’ll then choose Phone Calls under the Service/network issue.

Keep me updated! Take care and have a great rest of your day and a fantastic week!

I'm currently having the same problem. Most people who call me get through, but one friend gets this message every time he tries to call me. He recently moved to CO and tried to call from his new landline and STILL!!!! got the same message. Also, I dropped off a piece of equipment to be fixed at a shop and never heard from them. Why? Because they tried to call me several times and got the "caller is not accepting calls" message. I only found this out because I inquired after a couple of weeks and they told me what happened. I don't have a "blocked" list. My email is set up. I have no idea why this is happening and apparently AT&T doesn't either. Unfortunately, I'm probably going to have to switch to another company or it's going to get to the point where nobody will be able to call/text me. I have had a cell phone account with AT&T for nearly 20 years and it looks like that's about to end.
