At&t refusing to unlock my phone.

I paid my phone off in full last week and was told that I would get an email with unlock instructions in 24 hours. That was a lie. Never happened. I went through the "device unlock" procedure and naively believed that would work. Was told my device was under contract. That was a lie. I then spoke via online chat with a CSR, who said they saw the problem and could easily fix it. Another lie. I then spoke to another CSR, on the phone and received more lies. I guess now I wait for the "we will send you a private message" response. I believe at&t have found new ways to alienate customers. Good job guys.

Hi @Homergah!

Welcome to the AT&T Community Forums. I hope your day is going well other than this issue. I am more than happy to help with this for you today!

Getting the phone unlocked so it can use any carrier’s SIM card is a great feature to have. I will use my resources to make sure we can make this happen for you.

Did you try putting in a request on our Device Unlock Page? After making a request please make sure you click on the confirmation link in the email you are sent. This will get the unlock process started.

I want to make sure we fully resolve this unlock request. Please be on the lookout for a personal message I will be sending to your Forums inbox. I look forward to your response.

Thank you for being the best part of AT&T! Have a great evening!

@Homergah

Within 24 hours you have to verify your email.   The unlock process is within 2 days, not 24 hours.

Until your next bill processes, the payment on the phone won't show in the unlock portal.  For som reason the portal is behind the bill system.

You can speed things up if it's urgent, by calling 611 and ask for advanced tech support.
