Lumia 640 - Signal Strength Indicator "X"

My Lumia 640 is suddenly displaying an "X" across the signal strength indicator in the top left hand corner.

I tried replacing the SIM card, no luck. Any suggestions?

@smacar01 I hate to  say this but I don't recall if that is how Windows Phone 8.1 displayed not having a SIM. You can go into Settings / Cellular & SIM and see if anything is turned off. Windows 10 Mobile doesn't display it like that. On Windows 10 if he SIM is turned off or is not installed, you get a SIM icon with a Circle Slash - Ghost Buster! - on it. I'll provide links for both Windows Phone 8.1 Icons and Windows 10. An sounds like something serious like maybe a bad IMEI number, or perhaps the SIM is invalid. You can get a new SIM at your local AT&T store.
