To record a series you have to schedule a recording on the program guide.
1. Press Guide on the remote control and use the arrow buttons to move through the listings to a series you want to record.
2. Select the series and press Record twice. Three overlapping dots will appear. If you need to cancel the recording press the Record button three times and the dots will no longer appear indicating you are not recording a series.
Note: The red recording led will light up while your program is being recorded.

So you can't search the guide for a series to set your DVR to record and the only way to do it is for you to go frame by frame on the guide until you see an occurrence of the series and then hit record???

You can do a search for a series and when you find it set up series record that way.
