Hi there @Amandab!

Oh no! I have been there before and I never like when that happens. I will be glad to assist you with unlocking your Daughter’s S6.

Now this can be done the easy way….or it can get a little more complex. But don’t worry, either way you will be able to get into the phone.

If you enter an incorrect password, pattern, PIN or fingerprint enough times (usually 20+) on the lock screen, you'll be prompted to enter your Google Account credentials, which will unlock your phone. This is where she would enter the Google account that she used to setup up the phone.

Did she ever setup the Samsung Find My Mobile app? If so, she can visit https://findmymobile.samsung.com/login.do to unlock her phone.

If those two steps do not get her in, then she will have to reset the phone. The unfortunate part about this is that the phone’s data will be erased. To do a reset:

  • Turn off the device.
  • Once the phone is off, hold the volume up, home, and power buttons down simultaneously. Continue to hold this combination while the phone boots, until the screen shows the Android Robot.
  • After a few moments, you will have access to the phone’s boot menu. Using the volume up/down buttons to navigate, and the power button to make selections, find and select the Wipe Data/Factory Reset option.
  • Scroll down to Yes, delete all user data, and press the power button once again. You will notice script scrolling along the bottom of the screen, which will end in Data Wipe Complete.
  • Once the operation is complete, press the power button once more to reset the device.

The phone has now been returned to factory settings, and you no longer have to worry about that forgotten password. Just make sure that she remembers your new one.

Hope this helps!
