Can I trade in my Note 4 on AT&T Next and buy an unlocked Note 5?
I have a Note 4 right now on AT&T Next 24. I am planning on buying a Note 5 in the next few months unlocked from AT&T. While doing that I will trade in my Note 4 and get a new sim card to fit into the Note 5. Am I allowed to do this or will it not work out because I will still be paying for it every month.

AT&T does not sell unlocked phones. The phone must be paid in full before AT&T will unlock it.

I'm sorry I forgot. I meant to say if I can buy the Note5 outright for $740 and put a sim card in it from my Note 4 on AT&T next

If you purchase it from ATT, it is locked to the network. Even at full price.
if you activate before you unlock it, it is locked for 60 days, afterwhich you can unlock through the portal.
Please be aware not all versions of the phone will work on ATT. The ATT version of course will work.
