No.  The phone is not a world phone, it's a 13 year old 2G only phone.  2G phones are no longer supported and cannot be unlocked. 

 

Hi, It claims to be a gsm network phone with the four gsm 850/900/1800/1900
Mhz covered. I thought gsm used 2g. It was advertised as a world phone.
Better yet could you suggest a inexpensive phone solution for my trip?

The phone is 2G, GSM.  ATT no longer has a 2G network and does not support and cannot unlock phones that are that old.  

ATT 3G network is HSPA or UTMS.  

Go to Best Buy and shop the unlocked phone department.  Let them know you need it to work in other countries.
