Reset security passcode

Hi!

I'm currently trying to request an unlock code for my phone. However it's asking me for my security passcode which I do not know (I didn't even know I had one?)

Whenever I go to the place where you reset the passcode it takes me to a 404 page. I'm really frustrated rn

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but what am I supposed to do now?!

Thanks in advance!

Hi @quizco!

Welcome to the AT&T Community Forums. We appreciate you posting your question about resetting your security passcode. There is no need to apologize, you came to the right place to get support and we are always glad to help you out. I am sorry that you had issues with trying to reset your passcode online, but I will take care of you.

A security passcode is used to access your AT&T wireless account through customer service or when visiting a store. It replaces the last 4-digits of your Social Security number that were previously used to access your account. This security passcode requirement is different from the password you need when you log in online.

You can reset your security passcode online. I have included an article here with instructions on how to do so for future reference. In the meantime, since you are getting the 404 error, I suggest that you dial 611 from your AT&T phone to get this resolved. One of our customer service agents will verify some information with you and then help you create or reset the security passcode.

Hope this information helps and don’t forget that if you ever need assistance for anything, we are here to help you. Thanks again for visiting your Community Forums!

If you are trying to unlock an old device (not the device you use on your number) you have to unlock as a non-customer (so you don't need the passcode anyway).

To unlock your device https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/#/
