How do I stop getting this stupid email from AT&T?
I copied and pasted this message below that I have been getting from AT&T that doesn't pertain to me for the past month. I called the phone number on the email and the genius that I talked to I told me to sent it to Spam. I spoke someone in Tech Support who was so obviously sitting in India talking to me. She told me that she couldn't see the email and didn't know what I was talking about. I asked her why can't AT&T just stop sending it since it doesn't pertain to me. I asked for a supervisor who never came on the line. Calling the phone number on the email was a huge waste of time!!!!!!!!
Here is that ridiculous email that keeps coming to me that doesn't even pertain to me:
Dear AT&T Internet Services Member,
We have received questions regarding the following error message which is received by customers when they send e-mail using a non-verified e-mail address:
“Unable to send the message. Please verify the e-mail address in your account properties. The server responded: 553 From: address not verified.”
If you have received this error message, you will continue to receive it for emails sent with a non-verified address until you verify your Yahoo! email address or any other non AT&T email addresses (e.g., name@company.com, name@college.com, name@yahoo.com, etc.). Verification instructions are available on the AT&T Help site https://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB412255. If you have already verified your non AT&T email address and are no longer receiving the 553 error message, please disregard this email.
Thank you for your attention to this matter as we work to improve your Internet service. Our goal continues to be to make you a very satisfied customer. If you are experiencing any issues and would like to speak to a customer support representative, please contact us at 1-877-722-3755.
Sincerely,
AT&T Internet Services

That message looks like spam made to look like a real message from att.
I have never heard of them needing to verify e-mail like that.
I'd be careful.

Wish AT&T had a current email with a valid link. I just added my att email to outlook and it gets my mail, but will not send because of this error. My guess since I do not use my att email to send email, this is an old problem that I never picked up on, and currently can not figure out what AT&T wants me to verify. Does not matter much, as I do not really send from this account. As long as I can receive its all good.
Hope AT&T fix this, but doubt they now the problem, and doubt they read these posts.

If you want to use the ATT outgoing servers to send emails "From" an address other than your att one, ATT wants to ensure you actually own that address. Thus the "verification" process. The problem is that the process changes about every 15 months and I've had intermittent success in getting it to work.
I think this is current:
If successful, the nag emails will stop and your outgoing messages will be delivered.
