Email password reset

My att.net email account was hacked and I had to reset my password. No problem resetting the PC and laptop. My cell phone is another story. I entered the new password and I keep getting AUTHENTICATION FAILED. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 phone. Any help and suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hey there @JohninFL!

Welcome to the AT&T Community Forums – where we are here to help! I am sorry to hear that you are having an issue with your email setup on the phone. I know that your email is important and we want to get that working for you!

That’s awesome that you were able to get the email working on the PC and the laptop. If you are getting an “authentication failed” error that normally means it doesn’t like the username and password. It also could indicate that the email server’s settings are incorrect.

Check out the Device How To page where you can learn how to set up the email step by step. Although, you may have done it right, I would go over the steps just to make sure nothing was missed. Please go to the Device Support page. Select your phone make and model. Click on “View All Solutions”. Under Device Topics on the left side, click on “Email & Messaging” and then select “Setup Personal Email”.

You can perform basic troubleshooting steps by using our AT&T Troubleshoot & Resolve tool available online. Make sure that your device’s brand name and model is selected. Select “Email” under “Select a Service - Related Issue”. This may help identify the issue and tell you how to resolve it.

Hope this helps!

Hi Tim,

Thanks for responding to my question. I was able to get the email setup on my cell phone after 3 days. The setup on my wife's phone took the first time. So much for not liking the username and password.

This is the first issue that I have had with wireless in years. It is the only division of ATT that takes the time to help and resolve problems.

I am not new to the community forums. I have been a forum member for 6 years and have been a contributor. Also, I have been a ATT customer since 1973!
