Z222 unable to receive texts or update to latest version

Hey there, I'd appreciate any assistance on this.

Since the 21st I have been unable to receive text messages. I can send them fine but responses never show up. When I try to send a text to myself it shows up in the "Sent" folder but I never get a notification that I received a text nor does it show up in my inbox. Phone calls work fine. In the automated process of checking what could be causing this I noticed that my phone had not updated to the latest software version (it was 1.0.7 rather than 1.0.9). When I try to update manually it said "Cannot connect to update server". Now it won't let me try again for another 24 hours... Could this be causing my inability to receive texts, and what can I do about either of these issues? Do I need to take it into the shop or could a factory reset fix this? I wouldn't mind doing that if I had to, I have nothing important on this phone
