Enhanced Messaging not compatible with Android Auto

I believe that I just discovered that AT&T Enhanced Messaging isn't compatible with Android Auto. On a recent trip I used Android Auto to receive and respond to text messages. For the entire trip only messages sent by SMS provided a notification in Android Auto and could be responded to. Messages using Enhanced Messaging provided no indication in Android Auto whatsoever that they had been received. When I arrived after my trip and disconnected my phone from the car, only then could I see that I received a pile of Enhanced Messaging messages.

There are many IP-based messaging apps that are compatible with Android Auto. Therefore, it doesn't seem to be a shortcoming of Android Auto. This appears to be an issue with AT&T not making the Enhanced Messaging piece of the Messages app Android Auto compatible.

Hugely disappointing AT&T.

Hi there @jeffcarp!

I appreciate the information! I’m sorry that it has failed to work properly with AndroidAuto, I definitely see how this reduces the usefulness of advanced messaging in general.

I will be forwarding your feedback onwards, Advanced Messaging definitely has many opportunities to be improved, and integrated more successful within the gamut of applications and services available!

We appreciate you reaching out about this! Thanks for being a part of the AT&T Community!

Thank you for your response. I do understand that feature sets grow over time as a service like messaging is enhanced. I guess I would expect however, that an enhanced messaging service wouldn't actually break a feature that exists in the basic messaging service.
