I am trying to unlock an iphone that I have paid for from att but is no longer associated with my phone number. How do I do this?

Apply through the unlock portal www.att.com/deviceunlock as a non customer.

@kdfederer I have the same problem. I receive a message saying that the device hasn't been paid off. There's no way to find out how much is supposedly owed or to even speak to a human being without knowing long-lost account details like the PIN. The device hasn't been used on AT&T for years. We desperately need laws requiring mobile providers to unlock devices after the associated account has been closed for a long time.

Unfortunately, until the phone is actually paid off, it is technically still the property of AT&T and only the original owner of the phone can pay off the phone.

This is a user to user forum. I am a user, just like almost everyone else on the site.

Find a different phone or use the phone on the AT&T network.

@Maraat you bought a phone from someone that didnt pay their bill, at&t owns the phone its not at&ts fault your phone will never be unlocked as long as it has a balance owed, and only the original owner can do that
