Telephone Bluetooth connection with iphone ios 8+ issues in minicooper cars

I have a minicooper countryman and have the bluetooth set up in the car. I had an iphone 6plus and now I have the iphone 7. The audio works fine and the screen interface shows the name and information of what is playing. However for the telephone, the interface does not show my contacts especiallly for the recent calls. This is important to me because i would rather not look thorugh my phone for contacts but rather safely find contacts through my car (ie. steering wheel or the toggle wheel).

This is only an issue for AT&T phones as i went to the minicooper dealership and one of the mechanics tried to fix it. He was able to connect his iphone 6 plus with the ios 9, the Verizon carrier and see all his contacts. Another android phone with the t-mobile carrier did not have any issues.

Does anyone have the same issues? Please I need help!!

Hi @lunchtray!

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’ve had with your Bluetooth connection!

I did some research and found a few tips you might find useful!

First, try updating your iPhone software, if there are updates available, many Bluetooth issues can be alleviated that way!

Another cool thing to try is resetting your network settings. You can do this by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone! This will remove your saved Wi-Fi information however.

If that does not help, you could also give our general troubleshooting tips for Bluetooth a try!

I hope you find that to be helpful! Have a great day, and thanks for being part of the Community!

Hi Kevin it didn't work. 😞 even another android phone with t-mobile worked. I have an updated software and reset all the network settings. I also did any Bluetooth troubleshooting. If there are any other suggestions you have or anyone else, let me know. Thanks!!

Hi @lunchtray!

I’m sorry to hear you continue to have issues with Bluetooth services connecting to your Countryman. I checked the Min Connected Help site for information that may be helpful. Since both the iPhone 6 Plus, and the iPhone 7 use the same Bluetooth technology; Bluetooth 4.2 wireless technology, it should work just as it’s designed to do.

I noticed that there is no option for iPhone 7 support on the site at this time, but this may be because the phone is so new that Mini has not been able to update it.

One thing they mention on the site is that although rare, sometimes the Mini needs a software update to work with newer model phones. There’s a Learn More button on the site that will show how to update if it’s available. You can also go to the Software Update site to get to that information directly.

Please let me know if an update is available and this works getting your contacts to show on your Mini’s display.

Have a great day!

Thank you time for your help. I did the update however they say in order for the telephone Bluetooth to be improved the icloud must be disabled. That should be be because that would delete ones data. I made another request to mini for some help so hopefully I can get a resolution.
