That's a 3G device though, it's a bit dated, you might want to consider a more current (LTE) model.

Hey pgrey,

Thanks for the link. Yes, you are right. It is dated.

But I got this device once as a gift and now I think about using it when traveling to/in the states.

Here in Germany I use my android-cellphone (lte), but I wouldn't change the simcard when travelling. When we are in the hotels we will use wifi. And so it was the idea to use this huawei 5330 outside of hotels - if really needed, for example for whatsapp  ... I know G3 is slow, but better than nothing, or what do you think?

Maybe it is not an good idea, I don't know.

But if I will program it, I need the correct settings for g3..

Data is data, no matter what device uses it.  It would be easier put a Gophone plan on your phones.

Unless you are needing to tether a laptop while out, it makes no sense to pay for an additional data device.

According to this info, it won't work in the US.   US 3G requires 850 and 1900. No 2G service is available with ATT.

Hello lizdance40,

thank your for your answer, which is very helpful for my decision.

So I will forget the idea with this Huawei -device and put a Gophone plan on the phone.
