Skyrocket SGH-I727 Horrible Cell signal after Jelly Bean update

I downloaded and installed the Jelly Bean update as soon as it was available via kies. My phone is stable for the most part, and battery life has improved after I turned off google now (total battery sucker).

HOWEVER:

Ever since the update my cellular signal has been horrible. I've gone from having four bars normally to one. Calls are frequently dropped, normally garbled, and I am beyond frustrated on this.

So, any hints, tips, or fixes?

After major firmware updates, make sure that you always perform a hard reset before getting back into the device.

If you've already done this, the only thing I could honestly recommend would be flashing a different radio, which would require root.

I had done the hard reset, but decided to do a factory wipe and reload. The problem still exists.

My cellular signal on my skyrocket is absolutely miserable.

Sigh. I'm under contract till August.

It looks like I'm stuck till then.
