Nexus 6p
Hopefully a quick question. Does anyone know if the Nexus 6P (bought from Project Fi) will work on AT&T? The compatibility website doesn't seem to list Huawei phones, but I'm finding conflicting data when I search around. I'd love to jump to AT&T, but do not want to buy a new phone yet!

Good morning @chestergk!
Welcome to the Community Forums!
I hope you are having an awesome week so far! The Nexus 6p from Google looks like a great Android phone. I am more than happy to see if it will be compatible with AT&T’s network!
According to the phone stats on this Google page, this phone operates on all radio frequencies which AT&T uses.
To ensure the phone connects properly to data services please make sure to change the Nexus 6P APN settings to match what is shown on this article. Since the phone is not an AT&T branded phone, the Wi-Fi Calling feature won’t work.
I’m glad I could provide this information! Thank you and have a great rest of your Thursday.

In addition to Wi-Fi Calling the NumberSync, HD Voice and Visual Voicemail (built into the phone app) won't work on the Nexus 6P.

It works great, minus the features mentioned. My son and nephew both have one on ATT.

Other than calls/text and web, none of those features will work on your Nexus, because it's not one of their "ATT branded" phones.
Oh, and even if you use one of their "ATT branded" phones, if you are on prepaid forget about it, still out of luck.
I just hope ATT fixes these deficiencies, otherwise customers will jump to other carriers which do offer it on ANY phone.

Well, at least one thing that works in addition to calls/text and web is you can use the Nexus 6P as a Wi-Fi hotspot if necessary. But generally speaking you're right, AT&T support of non-branded phones is abysmal. Even VZW is better in that regard, and T-Mobile is probably the best.

Curious if now, 1 1/2 years after this thread started, if there's any update? Any luck getting the Nexus 6P to work on ATT (from Fi)? I was thinking of trying out my husbands 6P, but don't want to switch to Fi at this point, and have ATT.

In regards to the advanced features, no. For talk, text and data it works great.
The only non At&t android with Wifi call/text, is the pixel 3. Some new non branded androids do get VoLTE (my oneplus 6t) but not Wifi calling. At least not yet.

What type of features are considered advanced? In your opinion, would that be considered a deal breaker?

Mentioned in post 3 “Wi-Fi Calling the NumberSync, HD Voice”. Also At&t has its own “advanced messaging” rather than the oft requested RCS messaging, which you won’t care about or miss.
Because of my work, not having Wifi calling is a deal breaker, but it may not matter to you if you have good coverage .
