How do I check the status on a galaxy s7 for availability for GSM?

Locked/unlocked and availability of GSM are two completely different and unrelated topics. AT&T has shut down its GSM network nearly a year ago, I don't know the T-Mobile status on that. You can check locked/unlocked status by inserting a SIM card from a different provider (T-Mobile will do nicely). If the phone starts working on T-Mobile network, it's unlocked. If you're prompted for a network unlock code, it's locked.
