After factory reset, asks for Google Account but isn't working

I had to do a factory reset on my ZTE Maven 2812. It's now asking to verify my Google account. After I type it in and then the password, it just goes right back to the same page and makes me do it all over again. My credentials are correct. It won't allow me to skip this step or do anything else.

Hi @kcook95!

I’m sorry to hear that the Google account isn’t currently working on the phone after doing a factory reset of the phone! I definitely want to get you back up and running. I definitely want to make sure that you have a fully functioning phone.

Are you able to sign into your Google account via PC? Have you tried resetting your credentials?

If that does not work, I would recommend clearing the cache:
·         Power off your device.
·         Boot into recovery mode by pressing and holding Volume Down and Power Button at the same time.
·         Release all buttons when the ZTE Maven screen flickers and in a few seconds the Recovery screen will appear.
·         Using the Volume down button scroll down to and highlight Wipe cache partition
·         Use the Power button to select
·         Once the cache has been cleared, use the Power  button to select Reboot system now.

When the phone is back on, go ahead and test out the Google account once more. You should be able to enter your username and password this time around.

Let us know how this works out for you! Have a great day and an even better holiday weekend! Smiley Wink

It's likely you have run afoul of Factory Reset Protection.  If that's the case, you will be unable to access the phone unless you can provide information regarding the Google account with which the phone was previously setup.  If you can't give this information, you won't be able to use the device at all after a factory reset.

I booted into Recovery Mode as indicated above, and the screen is dimmed and hangs on FTM Factory Test Mode. Any suggestions?

And it will never work if FRP has been triggered and you don't have the last valid credentials with which to login.
