My name displaying correctly on the recipients caller ID

When I call people from my AT&T Digital Home Phone, they see a name on their caller ID that is not my own. Apparently it's the name of the number's previous owner.

I called customer service today and they verified the problem. They opened a ticket with IT to have it corrected, but said "I'm sorry, but this could take a while. We have no idea how long this will take to be corrected, so I can't give you a specific time." Is that an acceptable response? I don't think my problem is a particularly complicated one.

Also, it is so irritating to me for a customer service rep to try and sell me something or upgrade my services every time I call. If I wanted those things, I'd initiate the process to have those features added. When I call customer service, it's because I have a problem that I need fixed. That's it.
