PACE 5268AC - MAC FILTERING

Trying to set up MAC filtering on my new PACE 5268AC.

Following the obvious approach: Settings->LAN->Wi-Fi->MAC Filtering.  Then adding an active MAC # to the Blocked Devices and clicking on "Enable MAC Filtering" yields a dialog (sometimes) for inputting the "Device Access Code" but then red box with "Errors".

The inability to establish  MAC filtering is a great inconvenience and potential security risk.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,

CHL

Hi @flywheal,

Sorry to read of the trouble you are having enabling MAC filtering. The error code may be resolved by resetting the modem. Press and hold the red reset button for 10 seconds and try again. This link may also help.

If not, let us know.

I have the same router and went through the same troubles you did. What I discovered is the following:

1. MAC Filtering only works for the 2.4GHz wireless frequency.

2. You must disable WPS on the 2.4GHz Wifi in order to Enable MAC Filtering.

3. In order to prevent access to the 5GHz connection, I changed the default password to one that only I know (instead of the one printed on the side of the router).

I also changed my administrative access code (because it's also printed on the router).

This all started a huge fight with our teenager, but that's another story completely.

Hi @Anonymous,

Try doing a full factory reset by doing it through the gateway at the diagnostics > resets screen.

I did reset using diagnostics > reset.  It allowed to "enable" mac filtering.  Now, it does not allow me to "disable" it.  It gives me Errors.  I tried resets..nothing seems to work.  I have a new device that I want to connect to my wifi and because of mac filtering enabled, I am not able to do connect my new device.  Any advise?

Hi @Anonymous,

It sounds like there maybe an issue with the gateway. MAC filtering is disabled by default. If you factory reset the gateway, it should end up back on disabled. We may need to replace that gateway.  Please send us a detailed message by clicking here. Provide your name, 9 digit U-verse account number, and phone number. We may need more information to be able to take any action within our systems.

Keep an eye on the envelope.png at the top right corner of your screen for a response. In the meantime, let us know if you have any other questions or concerns!

Hello,

I have the same issue with no MAC filtering.  My model is a Pace 5268AC-FXN.  I've tried the above suggestions, disabling 5Ghz radio, restoring factory defaults, and restarting.  I continue to get a messege simply stating "Error".  I have unknown devices connecting in the logs and I want to prevent this from happening again.  How can this be fixed?

I am having similar issues.

I am able to enable MAC address filtering one time. Then it is "locked" on due to errors.

If I do a factory reset I can set everything up again and enable MAC address filtering, but after that it is "locked" on and I am also unable to add devices to the allowed or blocked list effectively.

Edit: I would like to add that I have WPS disabled on 2.4Ghz... on 5Ghz WPS is disabled, but the WPS status is error. I believe this is the root cause of my problems.

I am able to enable MAC address filtering one time and it is stuck enabled and I just get error when trying to disable.
