Invalid Checksum in IGMP Packet Error in logs. Service interruption several times an hour

ATT Uverse service interruption occurs hourly.  Services connect and disconnect and then connect and repeat.  I have had ATT out and had the modem replaced, but the problem is still present.

NVG589 modem - Arris/Motorola

What awesome modem can I buy outright to replace this junk.  Anyone have a list of supported ATT modems NOT Motorola.

I only use Uverse for Internet access.  No phones or TV programming.  Only internet.

Logs on the modem show the follow error.. THOUSANDS OF THEM

Can anyone tell me what is going on with this.  Looks like their connection is up and down and not stable at all.

Hi @usabug1

I'm a U-Verse Technician and can easily diagnose this for you, definitely sounds like there is a line issue outside causing several FEC's and Code Violations which are severely service impacting. Especially if your Gateway is losing Sync. PM me your BAN (Billing Account Number) and i can run several tests which will help identify the source of your issue.

Best regards,

First, there are no third-party devices you can use in place of an AT&T Gateway.  You can place your own router betwen it and your network, but it will be your gateway to AT&T.

Second, without U-verse TV, I'm suprised that you're seeing IGMP requests on your gateway.  Do you use multicast in your network?

I found a solution to this problem.  If you have ATT Uverse and have the same problem as me you can fix it very easily by calling [edited for privacy – please do not post personal information].  This is the phone number for the Comcast business  solutions team.  They can switch you away from ATT and your problem will be gone once and for all.

Sorry, ATT,  Long time 8 year customer is leaving you because you cant fix this problem for me.  Also cancelling my fax line.

Bye bye.....

I have the SAME exact problem. Have been complaining ATT for the past 6 months. I have only Internet 45Mbps.

ATT Technician came in and checked and said no problem at all. He did replace 5 year old Uverse modem. But that did not fix the issue.

I went to the modem's diagnostics and found tons of these logs.. There is some serious line problem that ATT is NOT fixing. The modem cannot even reach its own name server. they have primary and secondary, both fails at times. Whenever I see this error, there is failure in internet. It lasts for many hours sometimes.. I had my guests leaving frustrated after trying to watch movies refreshing every few seconds.  MOVING to COMCAST now.

PS: I just registered to post in this forum to help others in the same situation. I can't beleive that I had been very loyal to ATT for many years and waited for them to fix this for the past few months.
