IP Passthrough/pfsense...BGW210, firewall....

I've successfully integrated my pfsense box with uverse at my home, using IP Passthrough. Hurray!

Should I go ahead and turn off all of the firewall features/functions/protections/etc. on my BGW210 so that my pfsense box is doing all of that? Or does IP Passthrough mode actually already do that?

I've seen conflicting information on that answer so far, where I've seen one ATT Tech post in the ATT forums that IP Passthrough mode effectively "disables" all firewall features/functions/protections...and another tech say that if you put your gateway in IP Passthrough mode, you need to go ahead and disable all of the firewall features/functions/protections so that you're third-party router/firewall operates normally.

Any ideas?

Hello @EmptyWallet,

IP Passthrough can be confusing.  I will be more than happy to guide you to the correct path! We have an amazing Forum’s Post which is filled with information as well as steps.  I recommend visiting it and following the steps within.

When AT&T says it "can be confusing", that should have been their cue to rethink how this is presented to the end user in the gateway. Like perhaps using standard terminology, or maybe just letting the device act as a bridge/modem and only handing off ethernet.

Instead, they keep this deliberately confusing so they can instead charge you extra money for tech support in order to tell you how to configure the services you're paying extra for on a gateway you're paying extra for but didn't have any choice.
