Roaming charges at sea!
We have a $458 charge for our cell phone from roaming charges! We did as A T &T advised and bought the plan and it said to use phone as you do at HOME!
No satisfaction from the AT & T customer service!

Did you actually tell AT&T you were going to be on a cruise ship? Or did you just tell them you were traveling. International day pass covers travel outside of the United States for an additional $10 per day.

Cruise ships are not all covered. And those that are you have to cover a special cruise ship package

AT & T sent us a text saying we are charging your acct. $10/day as you are international waters. Please use your phone like you were at home. Then a lot of blah blah blah. Then a website.
We are on a cruise! We had Verizon for decades and went on cruises all the time. They had the same thing, we thought, and never cost us a cent except for the initial 'fee.' It was awesome.
This is deceptive practices as far as I am concerned!

We want to look into those roaming charges for you, meeata. Let's meet in a Direct Message (DM) to discuss those fees.
Please check your Direct Message Inboxfor a message being sent to you. Look for the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums page.
The information provided by @formerlyknownas is a great starting place to find more details about our wireless packages for traveling abroad, even for cruises.
Make sure to watch for that message we'll be sending you in a DM. We want to look into those charges in order to provide a resolution for you.

Thank you. I’m just a bit nervous right now conversing privately. Is this a safe forum

As long as you don't post any personal information it's about as safe as any other forum. However, this is customer-based forum only, it is not AT&T Support. So if you do get a private message from ATTHelp that will remain private between you and ATTHelp.

A private message is indeed private between you and ATTHelp. The forum is public but a private message is not.

Yes. Understood. Just didn’t want to provide my phone number. Would like support to help though The practices AT&T uses to get that $10 a day on a cruise to use your cell without huge charges. Saying use as your home phone. No caveats. Even on the website they gave it all there too. No caveats. Later you get an outstanding huge bill. I dropped over. Deceptive

As others have noted, the $10 day pass is for roaming on land, not on the cruise ship. Did you really receive the text you describe when you were at sea? I’ve cruised many times and anytime I have connected to the cruise ship’s cellular system, the text I get from ATT clearly shows the cruise roaming rates and availability of the cruise package. The text you describe should only be received when roaming on land or in a port when the ship’s cellular system is turned off.
