Your phone uses data for almost all services and functions. What you are seeing is data reported on your bill and is likely included with your current plan. ie: talk, Text and data plan.
If you go to your phone, open settings, data usage or cellular data usage you will see exactly what services or applications have used data. It will probably look a bit like this picture...
