Trade in promotion

I had a retail employee tell me that I could buy an iPhone off of the Apple store due to a discount I receive off their Vet store. Then I could trade in an old iPhone to ATT and still get the $700 promotion in bill credits

Is this true? How does it work? How do I process the trade in only when buying the phone from a different retailer (Apple)?

searching lead me to this site:

https://tradein.att.com/

Looks like if I enter in promo code tradeinoffer20 that will get the promotion credits.

I have firstnet as my wireless carrier and their site doesn't seem to give me the option to do a trade in. I assume I will have to do the trade in through this AT&T website. I still am wanting to know if I have buy the phone through AT&T in order to qualify or if I can use another retailer as long as they put the phone on the same firstnet monthly service plan?

If you mean you have to buy the trade-in phone from AT&T, no of course not. People switching from other carriers to take part in the trade-in promotion with phones that they purchased originally from a different carrier. It doesn't matter where the trade-in phone comes from as long as it qualifies by being in good condition and meeting the $95 minimum.

You do have to use that trade-in code when mailing in your older device to HYLA.

Package carefully and save tracking info

@lizdance40 I think they're asking if they can buy the NEW phone from Apple and then take the AT&T trade in promo, too. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's a no go.

We can definitely provide you the answers regarding AT&T Trade-in Program @!

When taking part in the AT&T trade-in promotion, it does require the new device to be purchased through AT&T with an instalment agreement and unlimited wireless plan. FirstNet customers however do not require an unlimited plan with the device promotion

If the new iPhone/device is instead purchased outside of AT&T it will not qualify for the trade in credits offered.

To start the process along with the tradeinoffer20, you would need to access the Trade-In Website or Shop AT&T Online/Wireless to select the new cellphone you want, provide your account info including the old device you're trading in.

Your new cellphone would be shipped to you first, then a few days later, the trade-in kit will be sent you afterwards. Do not mail your old device with shipping label that was provided with your new cellphone.

After using the trade-in kit to mail out your old device within 30 days of activating your new cellphone, credits will usually begin within 2-3 bill cycles once your old device has been received and verified.

We also recommend holding onto your tracking info of the trade-in kit for personal records

We hope this information helps, and let us know if you have further questions!

@MicCheck

If your understanding is correct, then you are right. You cannot purchase from the Apple refurbished store and get the AT&T discount. In order to get the $700 off he has to purchase through AT&T whether it is through an authorized retailer like Best Buy or Target or Walmart, but it has to be an AT&T purchase.

The trade-in phone he can get wherever he likes. Swappa, eBay, Etc. As long as it is in good enough condition to meet the $95 minimum and he is on an unlimited data plan that would qualify.

@MicCheck @mjone01 You can buy from Apple or any other retailer and still do the $700 trade in. You just have to buy on a Next plan which you can do even if buying from Apple. The above post from ATTHelp implies you must buy from ATT, that’s not true. The requirement is to buy on an ATT installment plan.
