PIN Code vs PassCode

I know my acct number (12 digits?), I have a passcode of 8 digits that I chose for an extra layer of protection a long time ago. I also know my password. Needing to know about this 4 digit "PIN Code", what's it used for, where is it located or is my passcode/PIN code one in the same? Info at at&t states a pass code can be 4-8 digits. So confused, please help! Thanks Bee

The PIN code is the last 4 of your SS# by default, unless you picked a new number, which is strongly recommended.

The PIN code is required for everything.  Every inquiry over thenphone or change on your account, login online or in store upgrade.

It is required to port your number to a new carrier also.

The account password is for logging in, but you will not be asked for it anywhere else.
