To cancel service on prepaid you simply stop paying the account will close on its own without penalty in 60 days. If you cannot log into your prepaid account to turn off auto-pay you will have to call AT&T (+1.408.962.1025) and have it done for you, or cancel the credit or debit card used to refill your service.
If you are postpaid you must call to cancel service. A final bill will be generated. But you will no longer have online access so must make other arrangements to pay your final bill when you get email notice.
