Problem with online streaming through third-party websites and Roku device

Hi, I just got off the phone with AT&T customer service after about two hours on this issue with no progress at all. I have an AT&T U-Verse account which includes cable, phone, and internet. When I go to the official website for Comedy Central, VH1, or MTV to watch their online streaming content I am asked to: "Find your TV provider and then sign in with your username and password." I select AT&T U-verse below and log in with my U-verse username and password. After a second, I receive the following error message: "[Channel name] is not included in your subscription package. Please contact your TV provider to add it. In the meantime, head back to the site for the latest videos."

However, I can literally sit here and turn Comedy Central, VH1, and MTV on and watch them live on my television. So I do have them in my subscription package. I encounter the exact same problem when trying to use the Comedy Central app on my Roku device.

I saw some older questions from people experiencing the same problem but did not find a solution that works. Please help. Thank you.

Hello @kylorenfan,

My name is Kayleigh, and I would be happy to help you get these websites connected to your Uverse account so that you can watch content online with no problems.

All of the channels you have mentioned are owned by the company known as Viacom, and follow the same policy. You may also notice the same issue with CMT, Logo, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr, TeenNick, Spike, TVLand, and Tr3s.  You’ll need to authorize it before Viacom will let you view any of the content. In order to do that, please make sure that everything is connected to the same internet connection that you use to get TV service through U-verse, and try logging in again.

If it still doesn’t work when you’re connected to your U-verse internet connection, then we may have temporary issues interfacing with Viacom’s systems.  In this case, I would recommend using the U-Verse app directly to watch MTV and other Viacom channels while we resolve this. You can click here For more information on the U-verse app and how to get it.

Please let me know if you have any success connecting to the apps on your home internet service to authorize them, or if you still have any issues.

Hi Kayleigh, I'm sorry to say that I attempted to connect again through those sites but I am still told I don't have subscriptions via AT&T. While I can use the Uverse app, that isn't an acceptable solution because I can't use it on my windows computer or my television. Hopefully we can find another way to work this out as I should be able to access this content thanks to my AT&T Uverse subscription.

Thank you.

Hello,

I am having this same issue. What is the solution? I specifically chose AT&T U Verse so I could watch MTV from their site, with access to previous week's episodes.
