Samsung S22 Ultra Bought Outside US

I just recently moved to the US and have an unlocked (open line) S22 Ultra.  Why does a post paid AT&T sim doesn't work? how can I fix this issue?  Thank you for advance answers.

For the most part international versions of phones will not work in the USA. They are not provisioned correctly for HD voice. You will have to replace the phone.

You can still purchase an unlocked phone, why don't you take a look at Samsung deals and see if they have a trade-in offer for your s22 series phone, those phones were buggy anyway. That's 23 series seems to be rock solid.

An unlocked North American version of pretty much any Samsung phone will work just fine on AT&T with full permissions and full function. Including Wi-Fi calling and 5G.   I highly recommend you go this route rather than purchasing a carrier branded phone which would be carrier locked.   If you're not familiar with the practice of carrier locking phones it's a huge inconvenience. Especially if you maybe traveling back to your home country to visit, or do not plan on staying with AT&T for the full 36 months.

Unless you need 50 GB of hotspot and unlimited premium data, there's absolutely no reason for taking a postpaid connection.   Whenever you're bringing your own phone, prepaid is generally the better option.   There are benefits and drawbacks to both prepaid and postpaid

Hi CDCS22Ultra, we understand that you want to use your Unlocked Samsung S22 Ultra device on the AT&T network, we want to help!

We want to thank our ACE formerlyknownas, for the helpful input. The Samsung S22 Galaxy Ultra devices that will work on our network are the SM-S908U and SM-S908UI.

Also, make sure your software is up-to-date to ensure you have the latest features and device protection options.

Hello @CDCS22Ultra, we would be more than happy to assist you with your question.

Yes, you can use a prepaid SIM with your postpaid number but if the SIM is the wrong size, you need to go to an AT&T store for a nano sim activated with your number.

We hope this information helps, and if you need assistance with anything else, please reach back out to us.

Hi Holcy,

What I mean is, as AT&T  said, only S22 Ultra Model SM-S908U/SM-S908UI will work for a AT&T  Postpaid Sim here in the US, will my S22Ultra Model SM-S908E/DS be able to use a prepaid AT&T sim?

Hello, @CDCS22Ultra! We want to help clarify your question regarding your S22 Ultra.

The Samsung S22 Ultra SM-S908U/SM-908UI are the models supported on the AT&T network whether they have prepaid or postpaid accounts. The devices tested and approved for the network are not based on the type of account the customer has selected.

We hope this information was helpful, and please let us know if you have any additional questions.

@CDCS22Ultra

Just to keep it simple:

The phone you brought from outside the USA will not work on AT&T.

It does not matter if it's postpaid or prepaid it's all the same network.   You will have to replace the phone.

If you would like to switch to prepaid, You have to make the switch in an AT&T store because it is an internal migration.

🤦🏼‍♀️.

NO.

I guess unless I use the word 'no' it does not compute?

And I provided the IMEI check in the first post. If you checked your phone there it would tell you it is incompatible with AT&T.

No Prepaid, no postpaid, no AT&T.

Hello, @CDCS22Ultra! We can answer your question regarding the prepaid sim.

The Samsung S22 Ultra SM908E/DS is not listed as a device model supported on the network. An AT&T prepaid SIM would need to be activated in a device supported on the network.

We hope this information was helpful, and please let us know if you have any additional questions.
