S7 Active gone insane!

The recent update on my s7 active has seemingly made my phone either slow to respond or not responsive, extremely sluggish, go to places and apps on it's own, clicking on items I didn't click and basically is frustrating me to no end. Help please!

Hi @joanncormier75

Thank you for your post and we're sorry to hear that you are having this problem. We're happy to help and we have a few troubleshooting steps that we can go through. First, are all of your apps up to date? If you have any pending app updates in Google Play or Galaxy Apps, please install them to make sure that this hasn't been caused by an outdated app. After that, let's try clearing the app cache of your phone. Here are the steps on how to do that!

  1. Go to the Settings menu. Find Apps (or Applications, depending on your device) in the menu.
  2. Depending on your device you may have to click on Application manager.
  3. Locate the app that you want to clear the cache or data for. (If you are looking for system apps you may have to click "More" menu and click "Show System apps").
  4. Tap on Storage and you can see clear cache and data buttons.

Let us know how this goes! If you are still having trouble, can you please send us the model number and Baseband version (both under Settings>About Device) of your phone? We still have a couple of other things that we can try.

Thanks,

Grant with Samsung Support

I am having similar issues with my S7 Active.  I installed the update on a Friday and it worked fine that day & the following weekend.  That next Monday I started having issues. My phone would lock up and actually re-start itself.  It now gets hot where it didn't before.  Usually when it gets hot is when it ends up locking up.  I have gone so far as to do a factory re-set on my device in an effort to fix the issue and this has not helped any in the least.  Please advise how i go about downgrading back to the previous operating system until the patches are released to fix these known issues with the 7.0 Nougat update

Hi there @melmelson1!

I am glad to see you have reached out to our Community Forums on this matter. Although updating your software is beneficial, I regret to hear you are experiencing problems!

Since you have already reset your device back to factory settings, the next step you can take is to re-apply the update. A phone is not able to revert back to a previous software version. You can always re-apply the software at any Samsung Experience near you. The Samsung technicians are well apt to complete the process.

Please let us know if you have any questions. Have a good rest of your day!
