Cant' Restore Service On Samsung Rugby-III Flip-Phone After Phone Has Been Rurned Off For A While

For some odd reason, it is always hard to restore the service on my Samsung Rugby-III flip-phone after the phone has been turned off for a while. The signal eventually returns but it takes way too long. Why is this happening ? And is there a way to restore the service w/o the exasperating wait ? Thank you.
